This is nothing new. I remember Stern received tons of hate back in the day but it turned out those that hated him the most listened to his show more often and longer than those that loved him.

Quit posting politico links, nothing but leftist scum on their own. Then to base the article off of super left leaning reddit?

The NGOs are calling in all their favors.

Stay strong and don't let all the manufactured outrage get to you.

Rogan DGAF so much that he won’t even know this story exists unless a friend tells him. He’s very much uninfluenced by outside noise.

I am legitimately most entertained by interviews with people like Musk. I listen to those. I don't notice him treating Musk any differently.

Oh no... the comment section!!!!!

These soy boys got their marching orders from AOC about how they need to counter guys like Rogan and got to work. These guys are just taking some time out from posting on reddit to posting on youtube. Nothing more, nothing less

The entire article is based upon a Rogan subReddit, that they admit is more liberal than his regular audience and has criticized him for years, so it's basically a completely fake article.

That subreddit was basically a group who all hated Rogan and just posted to criticize him even prior to his Trump interview.

It’s a little different with Rogan. He’s not a shock jock. He’s a conversationalist. People listen because of the interesting guests he has on, the inquisitive questions he asks them, and the authenticity behind the questions.

Very few of Rogan’s listeners hate him. But those that do are likely to post on Reddit about it.

Good to see those cuts at USAID are forcing Politico to run more click bait type stories.

Rogan doesn’t care. He will continue to interview his friends, and people that he finds interesting. I appreciate that he doesn’t seem to be a sell out to the overlords demanding he interview people they want.

the subreddit dedicated to Rogan is certainly more politically liberal than his average fan is likely to be and has complained about him for years.

They've complained about him for years... yet, they still watch him to have something to complain about.

It's a strange form of voluntary masochism.

When I started complaining about Faux News more than I was praising them, I cancelled them and switched to OAN. No more complaints. If I wouldn't have been comfortable with OAN and had complaints about them, I'd have moved on from there too.

It's basic logic. If something in your life causes more negativity than positivity, just cut it out. Life is short. If you want to keep watching just because you crave the negativity, you really should unplug from everything and engage in deep introspect and soliloquium because you may have issues. Possibly Borderline Personality Disorder or any number of other mental illnesses.

This is completely false, and I'm not even a big Rogan fan.

He rarely has big celebrities on. Usually his guests are not even famous, or they are famous within a very subset of the population.

Just in the past 6 weeks his guests were:

Mike Baker (former CIA)
Adam Curry (MTV guy from 20 years ago, current podcaster)
Mike Benz (Online censorship advocate)
John Reeves (Alaska gold miner)
Bridget Phetasy (podcaster)
Matt Serra, Brendan Schaub, Bryan Callen (MMA discussion)
Brett Weinstein (Evolutionary Biologist)
Rick Caruso (Businessman, real estate)
Dan Richards (Youtube channel "Debunking the Past")
Brian Simpson (Stand up comic)
Kurt Metzger (Stand up comic)
Lenval Logan (Former Air Force intelligence office, UFO discussion)
Gad Saad (Podcaster, Evolutionary Psychologist)
Jira Prochazka (MMA fighter)
Mark Gordon (Neuroregenerative medicine expert)
Warren Smith (Secret Scholars channel on Youtube)
Lex Fridman (Podcaster)
Thomas Campbell (Physicist, Author)
Steven Rinella (Outdoorsman, author, podcaster)
Bryan Callen (Comedian, podcaster)
Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, Ari Shaffir (Comedians)
Mark Zuckerberg (META CEO)

You have to go all the way back to Zuckerberg on Jan 10 to find a big celebrity, and even that is pushing the definition as Zuckerberg is in the technology realm, which is standard fare for Rogan.

The idea that he is "changing focus on promoting big celebrities" is completely false and you should admit that you just said that with no proof or research.

The only true "big" celebrity he had in the last 3 months was Mel Gibson.

You either didn't read or chose not to include the rest of the post

quote:

and he rarely, if ever, introduces new/interesting people with new/interesting ideas. He will recycle lots of people who were new/interesting people with new/interesting ideas from 10 years ago. Adding to that collection is much more rare than in the past.

Recycled people from your list off the top of my head:

Mike Baker
Adam Curry
MMA guys
Brett Weinstein
Most, if not all of the comedy people
(my boy) Gad Saad
Mark Gordon
Lex Friedman
Steven Rinella
Bryan Callen (obviously)
Gillis, et al

I like people like Gad Saad and Rinella, but they were new 10+ years ago on JRE. What my post was specifically discussing was the lack of introducing new Gad Saads or Rinellas these days. We used to get a new, intersting person every couple of episodes back in the 2012-2014 apex of JRE.

I read it, but that does not negate the part I quoted.

Your comment was:

quote:

It's largely become the meme "Joe Rogan is Oprah for men" with a changing focus on promoting big celebrities and he rarely, if ever, introduces new/interesting people with new/interesting ideas.

Notice the "and" which connects the two different comments. You say he changed his focus to promoting big celebrities AND rarely introduces new people.

My comment was correct and illustrated your quote accurately.

I don't disagree with the second part, but it is not contingent on the first part, as it is a separate criticism.

Exactly. Reddit currently thinks there is a mass-protest movement sweeping the country that is about to topple the government at any moment.
