This is a nightmare to listen to. Fla had some weather they were hitting from Austin to Bahamas.

That’s not what overspeed means in an aircraft. It’s referring to the engine not the speed of the aircraft, which is caused by icing, again hence talking about what the OAT was reading.

Maybe engine maybe airframe that term is in fact any airframe component experiencing an over speed condition.
