Duh, protect federal assets, the feds also have jurisdiction in other types of action as well including on banking institutions i.e. ATMS, and basically anything that might interfere with interstate commerce.

The feds should let the anarchy run its course. If the States, with their States Rights powers, don’t protect the federal assets/ buildings in their jurisdictions, withhold the full repairs costs from any federal funding that jurisdiction is due to receive.

For the same reason Federal help showed up when certain States abandoned minorities in the 60s

Which I think is VERY difficult to do. He could shut it all down and it would feel great and would make his base happy. But he'd be giving the left ammunition. They clearly do not care about they own citizens or property, so using them as sacrificial pawns here is an easy call.
He just needs to stick with this and not be bullied into acting. But he also needs to continually point out what's happening. no reason not to tell everyone exactly what you've said...that these Mayors and Governors are obvious baiting him into coming in, but that he won't do it and that their citizens will bare the brunt of this as they are used as bait.

Because the local governments in such places flat out refuse to do their jobs. They're letting their citizens be terrorized by a small minority of anarchists and federal property is being vandalised along the way.
It is really simple, if they don't want these agencies in their cities, then they need to get these "protesters" under control. If they won't, the feds will.
