Democrats still think identity politics works and shoving an unlikable diverse candidate down people's throat will win them votes. This strategy stopped working after Obama, where he did not improve the economic livelihood of black voters and many people caught on. Kamala Harris lost the primary and became one of the worst publicly viewed VPs in the modern era. I would say, go "groom" Buttigieg and watch him get his arse kicked. Identity politics is no longer as affective as democratic strategist think it is.

I feel like your avg American has way less appetite for gay public figures representing them than they enjoy being amused by will and grace and entertained by some eccentric fruity musicians etc

We already have had a president that takes it up the arse from the first lady, so I don't think it will be a big deal if Pete gets elected.

He will be Kamala’s VP nominee when Biden drops dead and she takes over.
