Groceries prices would come down 20 - 30%, if prices were not propped up by WIC & SNAP.
Doesn’t matter the prices if ITS FREE.

Seems like this would be pretty easy to do with digital record keeping
Pay the U.S. citizens and cut everyone else off

The democrats stupid for allowing this to be so exposed, these people are their base.
Poors love democrats even though they've done nothing for them in 100 years.
Just like all the immigrants they brought in and added to this mess for votes

Damn, the whiter the state is the less money get's blown on this.
We need to see $ per capita to know for sure. Those states have fewer people.
You’re probably still right, though.
Edit: I just saw GumboPot’s post. Yep, the trend still holds.

Yea Wyoming and Montana just having less citizens overall certainly does skew my point.
An aside, you are always an honest and realistic poster, let's me know you're a very strong man.

Helping people with food benefits is probably a better way to spend money than some of the other BS programs we spend billions on.
Just imagine the crime wave we would have if we didn't provide food benefits to people in need. Hungry people are not good PR for those in power.
Just need to see if we can clean up the fraud and abuse.
Fraud and abuse is just a by product of the bigger problem, which is extreme entitlement culture. This problem hitches it's wagon to one of the main pillars of modern progressivism: victimization.

Wow... The SEC leading the way with 5 of the top 9.

Sacks of rice, beans, vegetables, etc
That’s all that ought to be allowed under food assistance.
This insanity has got to end.
We are headed off the rails with so many issues, this among them.

Big time. We don't owe these people a damned thing, and frick LBJ's ghost with an ornamental cabbage for rolling out Slavery 2.0 to keep these people on a different kind of plantation.

This shutdown is our best chance at shining enough of a light on the entitlement culture problem to do something about it.
We. Do. Not. Owe. These. People. A. Damned. Thing.

California suing Trump admin to have EBT loaded as normal. I'm sure a judge will rule in this being done. So as usual the panic over nothing.

I'd love to see how they intend to make that work.

There is ZERO reason for this to be a federal government expenditure.
Exactly. Let charities handle this if there is truly a need. Want to see grocery prices go down? Eliminate this entirely.

How do we apply? I'm ready to get mines.

Saw a report last night that seems odd. princeton, Tx is a newer population center north of Dallas in the DFW metroplex. Population in 2010 was about 7,000. Population today is about 18,000. Report last night was that this one town has 4,500 SNAP recipients.
How is this possible in a new growing small town?

Yes. I was telling my buddy SNAP is an indirect way to suppliment the farmers, ranchers and grocery stores.
I bet steak prices comes down.

Put the onus back on the states to pay SNAP and watch states make sure job creation is fostered instead of over regulated.
Posted on 10/30/25 at 12:49 pm to Covingtontiger77
Had to be extended...for now. Chaos and bedlam averted.
But at least a clear message and warning is sent: "BEWARE -- your free ride is on borrowed time. GET A JOB!"

**41.7 million** people in the U.S. receive SNAP benefits each month (average for FY 2024, or about 12.3% of the population).
That's about $200 a person a month. I wonder if the money would be better spent if it were given to food kitchens, food banks, etc. Instead of to individuals. So you provide food for the poor but it's not a direct handout; rather, you are supporting charitable organizations that feed the poor.
Even if a charitable organization only feeds 100 people a month, that would be $20,000. It's not cheap to feed large groups of people but it's also not $20,000 to feed 100 people, could save the government billions.
