The last time the republicans got anything of note passed was the tax cuts from Trump's first term
Unless you care to enlighten us on any other landmark legislation they've passed

Which was obvious, and how the GOP ran Congress 2017-19 in Trump's first term. remember, he had to negotiate with Democrats on a few things in 2017-18 that Republicans didnt support him on.
thats why he's doing all of this via Executive Orders anyways. The negative of this strategy is that it allows judges to block his agenda much easier than if it was passed through Congress
Trump claiming he had a mandate after the election was not the best move... with the Congress makeup being 220 R 215 D... and 53 R - 7 8 D. That is slim.
he has a mandate on some issues, Transgender, social issues, DEI and Immigration... but the less popular ones? the GOP up for re-election not going to go bat on Trump like Musk's DOGE and brag about firing people on Twitter in a uncertain economic market. Which is why Congress isnt going to pass any DOGE related stuff. The 2017 tax cuts are going to get passed. thats it for the big ticket things

The insistence on trying to do everything in one big reconciliation bill is a factor here as well.

Futile, because of the Senate. The House can't codify anything by itself.

As I recall, Trump decided on a “one big beautiful” bill strategy instead of several smaller ones.

They sure got the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Patriot Act done.
Were those things not productive? They were sure sold that way.

It's a different dynamic. The GOP congress will do what Trump tells them to do. Biden did what the Dem congress told him to do.

Unfortunately, my post stands, whether it's Trump or another "republican".

Some will argue that Republicans have such a slim majority it makes it difficult. But I think that is bullshite. Pelosi only had 3 or 4 more votes than Johnson has. It wasn't like Pelosi was operating with a 30 seat majority.
Plus, just put shite up to vote and get members to go on record. I would rather have votes and lose than not do anything.

Which is different than what Pelosi was dealing with how?

Honest question. Do you want a monolithic bloc?

As loathsome and villainous as Pelosi was she had skills in the backroom deals and arm twisting. She wasn't a good Speaker by any means but she was a very effective Speaker.

The more Trump's presidency proceeds, the more I find myself hating Republicans.
I sure do wish he'd hold their feet to the fire. Call these motherfrickers out.

IIRC, some of those bills were Covid relief packages that probably had support across the aisle. Not codification of executive orders.
Don't remember when they rammed the "infrastructure bill" through, but I don't think it was that early.

I just got back from the future. The Dems win the midterms, impeach Trump 4 times and Jim Jordan is ready to go on Hannity to yell.
Just as you all predicted, the GOP did nothing with congress which is exactly what we thought would happen.

She's a horrible human being, but probably the best Speaker since Newt.

it's asinine that any political party vote 100% along party lines every time
Nothing meaningful ever passes this way
