Elon said in five years no one will have a job or need a job.
Elon also said that all Intellectual Property law should be abolished. Unless, of course......it is his IP. He wants the right to defend that.

My issue with UBI is what about working middle class people who worked their butts off to get nice house, cars, etc? I think it’s bullshite if upper/lower middle class people are gonna be grouped up with the poors to get equal UBI if that ends up being the case.

AI is going to further separate the haves from the have-nots. If the billionaires are smart they'll push for UBI, as the alternative won't be pretty.
Yep.
Of course, without customers and demand, what good will not having to employ a workforce do, really?
AI and automated production need to be taxed, on the level of salaries for humans who would otherwise be doing those jobs, and that needs to fund UBI.
As you say, the alternative is not going to be pretty.
It's a similar scenario to what caused the American Civil War, economically. A lot of the abolitionists were not the religiously motivated people opposed to enslaving a race of human beings; they were working-class and middle-class people being crushed by slave labor while the Plantation owners amassed unbelievable wealth and political power.

Well then they'll be grouped up in the homeless shelters and soup lines.

lol imagine choosing to be homeless and starving instead because you’re offended some poor will be able to be as comfortable as you

Paycom to eliminate 500 jobs. Replaced by AI
Paycom absolutely sucks. This is probably an easy PR way of saying we fired a bunch of retards who weren't doing anything

It’s coming and will get worse. How long before Terminator? John Connor, where are you.
I've listened to several podcasts opining about the impact of AI. robotics and automation on the US workforce and the general consensus is the hardest hit will be jobs in accounting, medical, legal, etc. If you want job security find a job that requires the use of your hands (not typing on a keyboard) or a job that requires personal interactions.

I know this is a joke but there was an actual "AI" web design company that ended up not being AI at all but was actually a bunch of Indian programers on the backend, pumping out the websites
Builder AI i think is who your talking about. Lots of YouTube videos on them

And judgement. Until the AI Tech bros are willing to accept the liability for their machines fricking up, there will be a need for humans in all those fields to take on the risk.

Wait until DoorDash expands operations and turns the tradesmen into gig workers.

You get it. Many others here don't. Many others here are actually broke pretending to not be broke. Sucks to be them.

This I 100% agree with.

This I 100% laugh at
Here's the thing. To survive for the next 100 years, you really need to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset and go from there. Become the business owner. Provide product and services to others even at a micro-level (I say this because I am doing this now -- had to start about 5 years ago though). You'll become very successful while the naysayers (many in this thread even) will be happy to get their $20/hour for handy work while demanding we make laws to suit them. Even the so-called elect will be fooled.

He has been promising self driving cars for years and is still nowhere close to achieving that. He tends to get ahead of himself with these predictions.

Who knows ... maybe they can come up with a way to provide a shitty "living wage" but if you become a business owner yourself, you'll be so far ahead.

Learn how to prompt and build AI Agents.
Everybody and their brother knows how to do this now.
I remember at the beginning of 2023 in the IT world, that the fastest growing position is prompt engineer.
By the end of 2023, the most obsolete position was prompt engineer.
