Districts must be redrawn by end of next month. Or the 4 dems on the SCOTUS will issue their own

SCOTUS will make this call and the Dems won't like it. Obama cost the Dems not only 1200 nationwide seats but also allowed Republicans to re-gerrymander the districts the Dems had previously gerrymandered. Spoils of war.

These districts should be mathematically derived. It is foolish to expect politicos to draw up equitable representations by feel, which appears to be the way it's done. This "feels" like it will result in victory for our side by the majority party.

apparently not

But several legal experts and GOP operatives said they don’t expect the Supreme Court to intervene. Unlike recent partisan gerrymander cases out of North Carolina and Wisconsin, the Pennsylvania case deals with state law, not federal.

“There doesn’t appear that there’s much recourse, so we’re just hosed,” said Mark Harris, a Republican consultant based in the state. “[Democrats are] going to steal a bunch of seats because this is a straight power grab by a partisan Supreme Court.”

Most minority districts are configured to insure a minority candidate getting elected. This will not result in what they think.

What he is saying is stop pretending that you are some middle of the road conservative.

Step out of the closet.... We have already peeped in and see where you actually hang your hat

Nah. I'm fine right where I'm at. I know my views.

Is this a power grab by the Dems? Absolutely. If the GOP can redraw the maps according to that and it is accepted, then great. Gerrymandering is shady as frick in this country and I will applaud even shallow attempts at fixing it.

Hopefully there is backlash to this and it puts Casey's Senate seat in play to be a GOP flip this fall.

Thanks for the link . Republicans have gerrymandered the hell out of America. It’s one of the few wins they had from 2008-2017. I’ll deep dive this later and figure it out because I just assumed it would get kicked upstairs.

PA is a battleground state in national elections. The GOP holding 13 of the state’s 18 House seats is gerrymandering at its worst.

Both sides are guilty of this, but what the GOP did in PA is beyond the pale. Good on the court for shooting it down, finally.

Shocking that when you gerrymander to create black districts, you are left with ----- white districts.

Hard to believe I know, but apparently this surprised some people.

Pennsylvania is described as “Pittsburgh in the west, Philly in the east, and Alabama in between.”

If you are required to draw minority-majority districts, by definition you are being forced to heavily concentrate Dem voters into a few districts because minorities vote overwhelmingly Dem.

Don’t demand set-aside seats that dilute your voting strength then whine when you win fewer seats.
