What are they protesting at this point? The pipeline isn't even running through any reservation or burial grounds despite what has been reported, it's using the same right of way another pipeline is already using, they obtained all the proper permits, they put years of planning into this, etc.
I bet not a single one of these protesters have any idea of the facts about the pipeline.

Because its the "in" thing to do. Its basically a bunch of hippies thinking this is Woodstock 2016. Wait til a good winter storm blows through, those frickers are gone.

Unless they're ww2 vets, i expect them to lose to a much less qualified foe.

Apparently it now has something to do with the pipeline, possibly, one day, maybe polluting their drinking water. It's absurd.

Not only that, but the natives are bitching about how they aren't doing anything useful and are wasting resources.

Coal, oil and g CEO are for carbon based polluting. Everyone else is done with toxic.

The real threat to Native Americans is not a pipeline, its the rampant alcoholism and suicide. These kids don't care at all about the natives and just want to feel like they have done something with their degrees in lesbian dance theory.

I'd say very few people are done with toxic.
Personally, I blame all of you old heads for losing your shite about nuclear power. If we had earnestly pursued the advancement and proliferation of nuclear power, we wouldn't have to burn anything else for energy.

FWIW all the kids I know doing this are the same ones who did OWS a few years ago. It's all about status signalling.

Thats just dumb. In the last 70 or so years, the Earth has "greened" and the health of humanity has increased, not in spite of fossil fuels, but because of fossil fuels. This is obvious.

I just don't believe it

I really don't understand what is the real issue with this pipeline. It's not on Indian land and it's in the same route as an existing pipeline.
What is this really about? Whose financial ox is gettin gored by this pipeline? That's who is behind this bs.

Since you are done with Toxic, we can assume you will be leaving and no longer posting on TD, since Coal, Oil, Gas help produce the electricity to power your computer, Heat and cool your house, and unless you walk everywhere, a car to ride in.

It has just been co-opted by the typical green movement and OWS.
These are people probably live quite close to a crude oil pipeline already (which has never impacted their water), but think this a big deal.

One of the protestors recently shared 'how white people can fight racial injustice'. He is a white kid who went to Oglethorpe and from a very well-to-do family. What a waste.

The Real Reason To Oppose This Pipeline
In May 2016, farmers began suing the pipeline developers in an effort to prevent the use of eminent domain to seize private property for the benefit of the pipeline owners. There are 1,295 properties along the 346-mile route through Iowa.
As of November 2016, the owners of 17 parcels have sued over the fact that the State of Iowa has handed over 200 pieces of land under eminent domain laws.
While the pipeline owners have attempted to obtain voluntary easements in most cases, it appears that when negotiations for easements break down the pipeline developers resort to seizing the private property via eminent domain. Moreover, the use of eminent domain calls even the "voluntary" easements into question since it is quite plausible that the pipeline developers "encourage" the granting of the easements by threatening to pursue eminent domain seizures should the land owner refuse the easement.
In October, according to farmer Cyndi Coppola, pipeline developers trespassed on her farm in Calhoun County, Iowa and began digging up the topsoil for pipeline construction. Coppola was arrested on her own property for protesting the dig.
In spite of the blatant violation to private property that eminent domain presents, many conservative politicians — the same ones who claim to support property rights — also support eminent domain. Indeed, during the Republican debates this year, Republican candidates expressed unwavering support for eminent domain when pressed on the topic of oil pipelines.

Absolutely. I'd add to that list, violence. I live near a reservation, and the court report is filled with cases of repeated alcoholism, domestic violence, and felony batteries.

How done are you with toxic oil and gas? Do you walk everywhere you go? Ride an electric scooter?
I'm guessing not, hypocrite.
