In this case, and IF it happened (which I rather doubt), WTF was he "protecting" the kid from? A deep voice? Anyway, it seems like he was initially polite, and a good manager would have honored his request for a different server. As a restaurant owner/manager, if I want your money, getting it sometimes involves a certain amount of catering to your whims.
