On the left "climate change" is a euphemism for more government control.

On the right "climate change" is just a fact of life. It is reality. The climate has been changing from day one of the earth existence.

The conflating of the two meanings makes "climate change" discussions/debates difficult.

What would be a quick and easy way to distinguish between the two in conversation?

If the “solution” involves more government control, the real goal is less freedom for individuals.

The quick and easy way in conversation is:

Me: 'It's fake.'
Them: 'But all the scientists say we must act now.'
Me: 'No, they don't.'

Beyond this it won't be quick and easy. It would take a one hour lecture and I would need to get paid.

Yep, and it's been going on since the 60s. Deforestation, ozone hole, animal extinction, etc. We're all gonna die unless we are forced to change our lifestyle. And that requires govt central control of everything.

Covid/Vaccines
controlling where you go. what you will do with your body.

Guns
right to protect yourself vs complete reliance on a state who has shown little ability, or even want to, to protect you.

Abortion
Ability to control the rights of your body, some are trying to take away and give the state more control over what you can or what you cant do with whats inside your body.

Glad we can agree that we currently need way less governement control. #FreedomsNotHypocrisy

It is not possible to have a rational conversation with a leftist about climate change or anything else.

Every discussion/ argument with a lib on climate change, once they are challenged with the facts results in them saying something to the effect “why wouldn’t we just play it safe and implement these changes”. Of course then you throw the reality of cost into the mix. That always results in the discussion ending.

True libs simply don’t understand economics. That’s why the so easily lap up the crazy spending of the Dems.

Leftists just use that lack of understanding to promote govt control. It’s about power. And they recognize the power they have based on the non understanding of their followers.

Why do we see very little individual/grassroots efforts to curb climate change? Things like recycling have been around for decades with the goal of reducing waste sent to landfills. Cleaner burning engines have been pushed to reduce smog so we can breathe cleaner air. Frankenfood meat substitutes were introduced as a healthy alternative to “real” meat and are not catching on. EVs and hybrids are touted as money savers because they burn less gas and, hey, they’re trendy.

What can people do that hasn’t already been part of an ongoing environmental movement, to reduce climate change? I’m not saying there isn’t anything we can do but why is the first solution to go full nuclear option and hand over control to politicians who think we can tax and spend our way out of climate change? Like with the scamdemic, little to no talk of losing weight, taking vitamins, exercise, etc; it was 100% get vaxxed or lose your job and your ability to go to hospitals, grocery stores, restaurants, etc.

Mother Nature is in charge....and she has been, for 4.5 billion years.

There have been hotter periods of time PRIOR to the internal combustion engine....Mother took care.

Electric vehicles are bad for the environment.

The world will fail with no fossil fuels!

The truth is they don’t want to explain what they mean what is transition to green energy, cause they know green energy will only supply 10 percent, they want us to transition to using 90 percent less energy, thats what they don’t want us to know, but its too late the bitch is out of the bag

So in other words Epic Fail number 483 by the retards? And that’s in a row. A losing streak record that will likely never be met in our lifetimes. Maybe in a bunch of lifetimes - it’s still plenty of time for that number to grow.

Always has been. Since the 60’s.

Only the terminology has changed.

Not only hotter, but much hotter.

I don’t think we’re up to the average temperature of the planet from the historical data yet, and nobody knows if this is another warming spike (which it looks like we were overdue for) or sustained heading back toward a maximum.

Because as has been said: it’s not truly about any of those things. It’s about control.

Also even if you beleive all the climate change predictions....without China and India on board there is very little the US can do to change anything.
