I can only come up with one reason they might suddenly become uncooperative. China buys a lot of SA oil, about 1.5 million barrels a day from what I can tell. The US buys about 1/6th that much.
Or more simply, they’re more than happy to keep Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, and the UAE corked so they can supply the shortage.

The Saudi's and Kuwaiti's have been privately urging Trump to finish the fight. Denying air corridors and base access is probably their way of saying "We are taking a stand until Iran is dealt with once and for all." It was their way of trying to force our hand back into resuming attacks IMO.

U.S. conditions:
• Ban uranium enrichment for 20 years
• Hand over all enriched materials
• Official commitment not to pursue nuclear weapons
• Dismantle Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan
• Ban any underground nuclear activity
• Allow inspections and sanctions in case of any violation

Note:
• Trump gave Iran 48 hours to respond.

The problem is that Saudi ships almost half the oil that passes through the SOH. If the strait remains closed, that hurts them too. And most of that ends up in China. I'm not sure what Saudi's plan is, unless they're now wanting the US end to the war on Iran's terms, or maybe they want the US to go ahead and bomb Iran into oblivion.

The only way the UAE and SA etc would join with the USA and Israel is if they believed the bully on the block that has scared them for decades was to be terminated.
I don't know what Trumps real plans were/are but he sure has appeared to be willing to forego regime change.
I sure hope Trump doesn't act like the previous DS actors and pull the rug out once again from our allies.

Zero chance Iran agrees to any of that!

Well I guess we will see if any of that is true in a little less than 48 hours!

Translation: The Iranian regime wants to mine an international waterway, attack commercial vessels, charge illegal tolls, block humanitarian aid, and then call America “politically motivated” for asking the UN to make them stop.
Freedom of navigation is a core pillar of global peace and prosperity. Iran treats it like a doormat.

I think Trump definitely wants regime change. He doesn't want to do it in such a way that it destroys the country for a long time. And he knows Congress won't suppport a ground war.
So the slow approach is the other option; let the economy falter and support the population in overthrowing the regime. Ideally while reopening the SOH to friendly traffic.
