The Iranians or the oil wells?

It's been widely stated by DJT, Hegseth, Bessent and all of Twitter that Iran is out of holding space for their oil. And that once you "turn off" a mature well it typically damages the field and reduces the output you will eventually get from it if/when it's resumed. That's a long term issue and fallout Iran has to deal with

But the timeline for that keeps sliding. It's been "3 days from now" for a couple of weeks. And DJT is the only one I've seen talking about "explosions", although it could be somewhere else and it hasn't shown up here yet.

That is GREAT news that needs to be widespread.

I know it's a Danish company. Was the vessel registered in Denmark?

US Flagged ship apparently.

quote:

Maersk has confirmed that one of the vessels involved in Monday’s U.S.-escorted transits of the Strait of Hormuz was its U.S.-flagged roll-on/roll-off ship Alliance Fairfax, marking one of the clearest tests so far of Washington’s effort to reopen the waterway.

The ship had been effectively stranded in the Gulf since the outbreak of conflict between the United States and Iran in late February, when shipping through the strait largely collapsed amid missile, drone, and mine threats.

quote:

The ALLIANCE FAIRFAX was among five U.S.-flagged ships known to be in the Persian Gulf when the conflict began. All of the vessels are enrolled in either the U.S. Maritime Security Program (MSP) or the Tanker Security Program (TSP)–two critical U.S. government-backed initiatives designed to ensure a ready fleet of commercially operated vessels available for military logistics in times of crisis.

I like to focus on the things Trump has done rather than what he's said. Things like regain control of the border and at least start the process of repairing the immigration damage done by Biden's admin. He's made a valiant effort to use the only tool at his disposal, thanks to a worthless Congress, to remediate our massive damaging trade deficits and ill-considered dependency on imports that are critical to this country's survival. He's addressed the massively oversized DC bureaucracy and made some headway in eliminating excess and corruption that's rampant in the states. And now he's inflicted severe damage on the rogue Iranian regime and, to a lesser extent, their Chinese benefactors; ran them out of Venezuela and in the process of running them out of multiple middle east states. And that regime may well be done when the effects of this finish playing out.

He's done those things in 15 months, and at every step of those last 15 months, Trump's critics have criticized and obstructed his efforts. They've used politicized judges, violent street protests, direct attacks on federal law enforcement, non-stop attacks from our corrupted, propagandist legacy media, and repeated attempts to assassinate the president and members of his administration. They've even pushed pro-Iranian propaganda while our troops are fighting against that repugnant regime. We have no idea what these people stand for, just what they oppose. And that's everything President Trump does or tries to do for the good of this country. So forgive me for not joining your lament that he missed the timing on Iran's oil well failures by 9 days.

I have no problem protecting a US registered ship. If you want a US escort. Then switch from Panama/somas/Liberia…..

The sidelined Iranian President, who has no real power, is trying to act like a dove and pretend he is outraged at the IRGC.

With that many tankers, they have something really big planned. Real big.

Iran International confirming tonight: President Pezeshkian is "incredibly angry" at the IRGC. The attacks on the UAE, U.S. Navy, and civilian ships were launched without informing the Iranian government first.

Easy for him to say. For all we know they were high-fiving each other.

But are all these tankers in the air to support the hundreds of aircraft patrolling for hours on end to guide ships out of the Strait? It takes hours for one of those massive ships to make the trek. I'd imagine they have to have pretty heavy air presence by every aircraft from helicopters to A10s to F35s to keep commercial ships covered from all angles as they transit, and another layer of those aircraft covering open water for anything incoming. Thus the 2 dozen tankers staying overhead constantly

Or are they gearing up for a massive fighter strike?

You talking about KC-135s?

Hours from where exactly?

Yes the air tankers. There's 23 in the air right now.

It's takes a large cargo ship or oil tanker up to 8 hours to transit the strait. To get them through safely we're having to cover them with dozens of aircraft flying for hours, obviously needing refueling.

It's a simple question - are all these tankers in the air to support that, or are we preparing for a massive strike. I know that no one here knows, it was more of a rhetorical question

Bandar Abbas contains a naval port for a lot of their speedboat activity. I wonder if this is the UAE or us putting a dent in their capabilities.
