Hegseth says Project Freedom is separate and distinct from Epic Fury. So far, the Iranian attacks have been insignificant and under the threshold to violate the Epic Fury ceasefire.
Hegseth says Project Freedom is a "defensive" operation and is a temporary operation. Soon, the US will end Project Freedom and hand over to the international community to take over.
The "War Powers Act" clock is stopped. Epic Fury is on hold. Project Freedom is a separate operation and defensive in nature and does not start any War Powers clock.

Dumb as hell. What is the threshold to start bombing them again? 20 attacks on American forces? 50? These lunatic animals are not going to negotiate. They’d rather all die than negotiate with the US. The ceasefire was just stall tactics to reload for them. It did benefit us in many ways, but it’s time to start taking out more leaders. I’m not necessarily a huge fan of taking out the infrastructure, but not against it if need be. I’m all for taking out the IRGC and their missiles though. Let’s get this show on the road and finish what we started, don’t half arse it.

China-Iran Visit
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is heading to Beijing today for talks with China’s top diplomat.
Losing Iran as a partner in the Middle East means a lot more than losing discounted oil. The loss takes away a coercive actor that has long acted as a forward disruptor of regional order.
In fact, Iran has given China three things at once: cheap energy, a regime that can absorb sanctions pressure (important for China to build a parallel financial system), and a network of militias and proxies that destabilize U.S.-aligned systems without putting Beijing on the front line.
However, Operation Epic Fury is becoming a real embarrassment for Tehran: 1/ Militarily, Iran isn’t winning and the region is increasingly lining up against it. 2/ Economically, the situation is rough: inflation is high and the currency is sliding toward 1.9 million to the dollar, which tells you everything about the pressure the system is under.
Beijing risks losing an actor that made life harder for the United States across the region, the fact that the talks are happening shouldn’t be surprising.

Before the revolution, Iran worked closely with Arab leaders — from King Faisal to Sheikh Zayed to King Hussein to President Sadat.
In Oman, my father helped Sultan Qaboos defend his country against insurgency.
We were true partners then. We will be true partners again.
The Iranian people have called on me to lead the transition after the regime is gone. I have accepted that responsibility. Part of their great mandate to me is to return our nation and our foreign relations to normalcy. I will do exactly that.
My commitment is to ensure the transition is orderly, the country is stabilized, and Iranians determine their future through the ballot box. We will not repeat the mistakes of past transitions. We will avoid de-Baathification scenarios and maintain as many bureaucrats and public servants in the transition as possible.
Iranians have made their choice — at an enormous price. Now I ask our friends in the Arab world to join us. To prepare to recognize and engage our transitional government.
We will rebuild our nation not for expansion, but to serve the Iranian people. We will base our diplomatic relations, not on exportation of ideology, but on mutual respect and shared interests. We will reintegrate into the regional and global economy to increase prosperity for the citizens of all of our nations.
Standing with the Iranian people is not charity. It is a strategic investment in making our region one of the most stable, secure, and prosperous in the world.
Together, we can build a Middle East our children will be proud to inherit.
