Yeah, but there aren't that many Shia and most of the Shia that might like the regime already live near the region. Hence why they can have regional militias but not real international reach, unlike the Sunni terrorist groups.

1000 times my be understating it. Likely billions worse, if we look at the value of a human life.

DPRK has them for defense, essentially, and maybe a little bargaining for food/supplies when they run low. Their stance is you don't mess with us, we won't mess with you.

Iran would use them for offense. No doubt.

Iran’s shadow banking system serves as a critical financial lifeline for its armed forces, enabling activities that disrupt global trade and fuel violence across the Middle East. Illicit funds funneled through this network support the regime’s ongoing terrorist operations, posing a direct threat to U.S. personnel, regional allies, and the global economy. Financial institutions are on notice: Any institution that facilitates or engages with these networks is at risk of severe consequences.

Today, as part of Economic Fury, Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control designated 35 entities and individuals that oversee Iran’s shadow banking architecture and facilitate the movement of the equivalent of tens of billions of dollars. These networks allow Iran’s armed forces—including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—to access the international financial system to receive payment for illicit oil sales, purchase sensitive components for missiles and other weapons systems, and transfer money to Iran’s terrorist proxies.

A founding member is effectively no longer part of OPEC, Venezuela.

Interesting convo yesterday with someone in Marathon's management. Very minor disruption even at their CA refinery.

The Shah more cash to buy more arms is why. That would have disrupted the balance in the ME

Was reading other thread about Trump sticking with blockade and collapsing Iranian economy. Less risky than continuing air strikes, a mistake imo.

When Iran oil storage hits 100% capacity I'm betting they start dumping into the sea rather than shutdown wells. Blame the dumping on US blockade. Trump will then have to destroy pipelines on Iranian soil so they can dump there or shutdown.

Regardless, it will be a mistake not completely whacking IRGC now, they're crazy and need killing.

It was a WSJ article the thread was based on, so that could be a bunch of crap too.

The ongoing ceasefire also gives the Gulf States more time to get their new Ukrainian anti-drone systems in place, and they might want that.

Iran is never going to make a deal that actually gives up their nuclear ambitions. I want President Trump to go ahead and finish the job militarily, but I am also content to wait a bit.

IMO, Trump keeps talking about a deal to try to keep oil prices from escalating, but he knows that it's ultimately unlikely.

Whatever they do, shut down the wells, pump it into the sea, it still wont make it to market and that is a far more urgent issue for them than the long term damage to the wells.....which they will not be around to use anyway.

I would think the issue has moved from whether they will pursue nukes to.......if Bessent will release some of their getaway cash
