The last floating roof tank I entered was at Murphy Oil in Mereaux, La.after Katrina to do an estimate on repairs.
It is normal to flood "empty" tanks with water ahead of a hurricane too keep from floating away.
Why use Wikipedia if you have experience with tanks?
As far as Grokpedia, it is pure crap.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Iranian oil storage tanks at Jask terminal have reached maximum capacity.
If the US naval blockade (imposed since April 13, 2026) continues, Iran will be forced to shut down oil production from its wells within days. This will cause permanent damage to its oil fields. Repairing the damage will take years and billions of dollars.
Daily Losses:
• Approximately $435 million per day.
• Halt of ~1.5 million barrels of oil exports daily.
Broader Impacts:
• Near-total collapse of oil revenues (Iran’s main source of income).
• Severe economic pressure that may push Iran toward negotiations or escalation.
The blockade remains in effect until a “comprehensive deal,” according to Trump. The situation is critical — every day costs Iran a heavy price.

I would not be surprised if they kept pumping but send into the strait itself.
Blame the US for causing an environmental disaster.

The water at Texaco's Harbor Island, and Gulf Oil's docks in Port Arthur were about a foot of oil floating on the water around 1970.

I only used wikipedia to count how many plants I have been in because they have a list of refineries and chemical plants world wide.
I don`t remember what the tank had in it before the flood.

I’m surprised the ole Saddam Hussein approach to environmental politics has yet to be considered.

Regular army has not been paid in two months and IRGC food soldiers have seen delays three times so far. Combine this with the out of control inflation, banks limiting withdrawals.....wonder if a lot of these fellas are reconsidering which side they are on?
Most of them are not these wild eyed fanatics. They love the power and the fact they were paid better than the average Iranian. Both those are quickly fading and they have to realize things will only get worse.

remarkable that a responsible company would allow entry into a sludge containing tank, with a busted floating roof that could collapse at any time on the damaged stantions.

I haven’t been in any plants and know nothing about them, but it is fun to watch you oil baws challenge each other on your bona fides.

From what I remember the tank was cleaned out pretty good and about 90% of the legs were still attached after over a month of not collapsing.
Another company gave an estimate on flooding the dikes, pull the tank back to the foundation and doing the mechanical repairs but the plant decided to demo and replace in kind.
Not sure if anything has changed lately but plants do or did some wild sht to get around cost and down time especially at night when most people are sleeping.

I see Trump backing down from this and resuming strikes. They're not going to give in and Trump doesn't want permanent damage to the wells, that's the future of the free Iran.
They should allow oil through and the payments go to a fund we control until the IRGC is out of power. And then that money goes to Iran.

That's what I'm talking about. Similar deal like Venezuela. Might minimize US companies involvement however.

There were no responsible companies after Katrina. It was the wild west.

Jesus its obvious Israel is 100% down for regime change and will do literally anything to bring it about while we are doing everything we can to keep them on a leash and its just so confusing. Like what the frick is our strategic thinking here
