So was US Grant. George Washington had his own distillery. All three won.

Neville Chamberlain would have prevented war with Germany. He would have surrendered on day one.

Its probably based in the idea of the treaty of versailles being too tough on Germany post WW1. But when Germany defaulted on making payments, France went in and occupied Germany. Churchill actually cautioned against it, said it would end badly. It did.

Yes, Churchill thought the Treaty of Versailles was too punitive and harsh on Germany and strongly believed it would cause the second world war.

quote:

Advocating a policy of reconciliation, Churchill wanted Britain to be both “the ally of France and the friend of Germany” to mitigate “the frightful rancour and fear and hatred” between France and Germany which he warned “if left unchecked, will most certainly in a generation or so bring about a renewal of the struggle of which we have just witnessed the conclusion.”

He sure fricked up the middle east with his giving away most of Palestine to his Arabian buddies instead of partitioning Palestine at the Jordan River, a Jewish state and a Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as an international city as was supposed to happen.

Churchill was almost certainly an alcoholic. However, it doesn't preclude him from being an effective politician. I can understand the need to take the edge off when dealing with lying slimeballs all day

He's not the only successful alcoholic

Franklin Pierce was allegedly a hardcore alcoholic that drank himself to death

Nobody will argue Churchill was a goody goody. He also fricked a lot of things up. However, he was the exact type of leader needed at the time. And he may have some of the best quotes ever.

True.

Mark Levin compares Zeelenskee to Churchill, calling Zeelenskee the Churchill of our time but I think it's Zeelenskee's unusual talent of playing the piano with his lower unit that separates a historic individual such as Churchill from Zeelenskee. A lot of people can throwback the liquor but playing penis piano....another level of being historic.

Not as "obviuosly" as you seem to assume.

"This is also propaganda" What do you mean by "this"?

Is the document pictured a real historical document?

Anyway, I was discussing the issue of "Historical Revisionism".

But, there are many issues in history that are still being developed and new evidence discovered. If we condemn and shun all new ideas about what really happened, then we are hurting our chances of actually learning from history.

I can't imagine what you imagine the clarification of Churchill's drinking adds to history.

Lady Astor: Winston, you are drunk!!!

Churchill: yes, Madam, and you are ugly. However, in the morning I shall be sober.

Not much, that is true. We should not ignore it, but, Churchill was a very high-functioning heavy drinker. I'm not offended.

There are other areas of history where new research has revealed important areas where re-interpretation is warranted, because these new conclusions challenge some things that have been "known" for a long time.

Churchill was a high-functioning alcoholic? So what, I say. He was pretty good at his jobs.

PS Am I sensing here that some people are emotionally distraught about the info in the OP? That's weird. Why would a historical fact upset somebody?

Any American attempting to disparage the leadership and significance of Churchill is a babbling idiot.

He was a great man

Read Andrew Robert's biography of Churchill.

I don't think that the OP is trying to do that. He posted a historical document.

Now, his thread title? I don't think he's being serious. He didn't cite one single "horrible decision".
