I don’t support violence on any side.

False. They should arrest them for obstruction if they are hindering official business and disorderly conduct, at the least, if they are doing it for spite. Not doing this is why they are so emboldened.

The mayor could make an appearance denouncing this behavior. That opportunity was missed with the Minneapolis mayor, I think.

The same one advocating for dropping all charges for a psycho that charged police with a knife.. forcing the cop to defend himself? Yea. I see that happening.

Correct. But when protestors impede their ability to protect and serve, they're breaking the law and should be held accountable.

Under the principles of the escalation of force, police can respond with deadly force only in response to a deadly threat. In other words, the response must be proportional.

Also, if you are able to deescalate a situation you must.

It appears disengaging was possible here, and I’m glad no one was injured.

Because if they defended themselves, the mayor and staff would prosecute them for, at minimal, assault.
If they work under such a threat, they are hiring police officers everywhere. Adios, NYC!!

What was this all about? Not context in this thread and none on the X page either.

Nothing to see here. The Mayor said it was simply a playful snowball fight

That’s great and all but that is assault what they’re doing. Thought NY coppers would be tougher

Firing a shot or two into the ground would have stopped all of that in a second. It also would have been hilarious watching all those assmonkies slipping and falling all over each other as they tried to stampede away.

At this point, I wouldn't care if they did.

I hope he personally walks down to the jails and flings open the doors. They wanted this. We better not hear any crying.

This isn’t true.

Also, this would be governed under NYS criminal statutes, and not the common law definition of assault.
