The Novavax Covid vaccine has undergone months of clinical trials against not only the original coronavirus strain but also the new variants.

The Maryland based biotech company says it’s 2 dose vaccine is around 90 percent effective and is safe – after being tested on nearly 30 thousand trial participants.

“Where we are currently as investigators reviewing data with the sponsor. The FDA is looking at safety data and following up with patients who were vaccinated early this year to see if any of them have breakthrough cases and then trying to give efficacy results to the public so we can have another option out there for Covid,” says Dr. Mark McKenzie, Regional Medical Director for ClinSearch.

Recently The CDC announced that participants in the Novavax PREVENT-19 Phase 3 clinical trial are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after they have completed the vaccine series.

From the article..."The company says they plan to seek full authorization to distribute the vaccine within the next few months- with the focus being on low to middle income countries"

Whats with the focus on low to middle income countries?

Would assume because we are already awash in vaccine supply in the U.S. and other developed countries

Eta: There seems to be very little downside to taking this one, since it's not mRNA and more of a traditional vaccine. And it has really good efficacy against the variants.

Probably due to contracts the other vaccine makers have in the US market.

Maybe it's a generic version. Would explain the focus on distributing to the poor & third world countries.

Combination of being late to market in most 1st world nations and not requiring extreme refrigeration like the mrna vaccines thus making it good for countries without reliable (or any) electricity.

Because the FDA is slow rolling them here as they were not the chosen company. They've actually made them stop making this in the US. So they are making them overseas to sell overseas until the can reapply in the 4th quarter and hope to get a bone thrown to them.

This one basically has zero side effects a received the least amount of funding. They've had to pull some strings to finance and bring to market. Their shareholders want to see sells so they are focused on the overseas market in the short term.

Two doses so pointless for me to get it. No point in me wasting my time twice since the vaccines would be worthless for me.

If absolutely forced in some fashion to produce a vaxx card down the road, this is the one o would consider taking. Using more traditional, proven approach’s and the government’s fingers mostly kept out of it. Unlikely to get approved in the US because no one inside the beltway will get rich off of it. Especially a certain evil garden gnome and his boss Bill Gates.

Novavax vaccine is a vaccine that contains the COVID spiked proteins. The spiked proteins are recombinant molecules simply meaning they are formed artificially in the lab. So you are injected with the COVID spiked proteins and then you produce an immune response to those proteins. This follows traditional methods of vaccine production, e.g. where virus or bacterial proteins are the antigens.

This is different than mRNA vaccines were the mRNA transcribes the spiked protein in your own cell cytoplasm.

My hypothesis of why some people are seeing side effects to the mRNA is that the number of spiked proteins produced by the host varies by person. And that can be from a number of factors: injection site, metabolism, subcutaneous fat levels, etc. IMO younger people are seeing more side effects from the mRNA type vaccines probably because their metabolism is higher and the mRNA is more efficient at entering young cells, thus producing more spiked proteins.

With the Novavax the quantity of spiked proteins are controlled because it is not relying on the host to produce them. The number of spike proteins you receive is a controlled quantity in the jab.

Furthermore the Novavax vaccine contains an adjuvant called Matrix-M. Matrix-M an ACE-2 human receptor–binding protein. It blocks ACE-2 and COVID needs ACE-2 to enter the cell. The Matrix-M adjuvant is further described as follows:

quote:

Matrix-M can enhance activated T-cell, B-cell, and antigen-presenting cell populations by inducing the influx of antigen-presenting cells.1 It can also enhance both B-cell immunity and T-cell immunity.

If Pfizer and Scott Gottlieb stop conspiring with the FDA I’d actually like to take this vaccine.

But the FDA. Errr I mean Pfizer won’t allow it anytime soon.
