re: Not sure if people realize this, but the Electoral College is on the chopping block now

Pretty sure disenfranchising a majority of voters within a state and awarding the state’s Electoral votes to another candidate would be unconstitutional especially if that state never put joining the compact to a vote by the people.
Disenfranchising a majority of its citizens would put immense pressure on a state’s legislature and its governor. The state still has to honor the will of a majority of its citizens.

Ok but what happens if and when the courts determine it is Constitutional?
Then what?

That's the court packing thing they want to do.

It’s hell when you can not count on everyone being as crazy as you.
Keep up the chaos. We really do not need level headed people in change of our laws, right!

With Texas turning blue and NC, SC, GA going blue as well, the only chance the GOP has, is to get rid of the EC and try to win the popular vote.

You really don’t see the issue in moving away from the EC?!?
No I definitely do but I’m just saying there are some pitfalls.
And you raise very good points about manufacturing votes.

List all the Republican policies that aren’t working then list the Democrats policy ideas that have or will work. This should be good!

You didn’t think this through, did you? There are far more republican and independent voters in those 3 states than anywhere else. Democrats carry less than half of the percentages in those states.

We need this settled by the Supreme Court now

Gotta have 3/4 of the states approve the Constitutional Amendment. Not going to happen anytime soon

I’m waiting on yall to tell me what policies Trump worked on over the last 2 years. His legacy will be funding a war we didn’t want, changing place names of geography, building a new ball room, and casting blame on the reflecting pool fiasco. What a winner!!

Are you confused on their role as interpreting the intent of the Constitution? Lol who would force them to reconsider based on the wording in Article 2 and who would undo their ruling? You really thought you had a “gotcha” there
Posted on 11/5/26 at 8:33 pm to ParkRanger
Reflecting pool fiasco and the Ball Room was a voting priority for you?? You sound real bright lol just stop voting

I asked a simple question earlier.
All I got was a down vote.
Sad days in Jellystone ranger sad.

Yes but they should also be aware that Trump won the popular vote without stepping foot to campaign in Cali or NY or IL. If we used popular vote instead of EC all things would not be as they are now.
So worst case scenario, things stay as they are. Best case scenario, they get to win elections they would have otherwise lost (win pop but lose EC)?
Yeah, not sure why they'd want to do that...

True, but I suspect that the instances where the Dems win pop vote but lose the EC are way more common than Reps winning pop but losing EC.
So, these rules might burn them 1 out of 5 times. But it benefits them 4 out of 5 times.
Still a good trade.

Fear mongering. They don’t even need to do away with it to win. Republicans give it away to them. Electoral college isn’t going anywhere.
Man, you really are stupid.

For me, it’s just difficult to trust folks like Gavin Newsome or Kathy Hochul to run a fair and honest election.
Heck, Virginia just voted to support aborting babies up until the day they are born.
If the Dems are willing to do that… they are pretty much capable of doing anything they want.
I really appreciate the discussion. Thank you RM!

This is separate from Congress
This is being done thru state legislatures
Look up the Interstate Compact
It’s a workaround the Democrats have been scheming if they can get enough State Trifectas… which they now have enough to pull this off if they want to
The only person potentially standing in the way is Amy Coney Barrett for now. If Clarance Thomas is replaced with another Kennji Jackson… that thing gets rubber stamped immediately
