Per Fox News update about an hour ago.

Schumer & Pelosi threaten McConnell with not only packing the Supreme Court once they gain control but also say they will pack the states to 52 with the additions of DC and Puerto Rico.

We’re getting closer.

DC should have senate representation.

That’s why they should be part of Maryland.

See America?

If the people in a democracy reject your ideas, simply change government to force your ideas on them permanently!

It’s literally in the constitution that DC can’t be a state. Good luck getting a constitutional amendment for that, Nancy/Chuck!

These two frickers need to take a lesson from RBG, they ain’t living forever. No way in hell they live long enough and keep getting re-elected long enough to survive another Trump term then two Don Jr terms.

The problem is the democrats don't have the ability to carry through with these threats.

And redistricting, and eliminating the EC, and lowering the voting age, and letting felons vote.

DC statehood will not pass Congress. The reasonable answer has always been to give the Distric--minus the land around the national mall/WH/Capitol back to Maryland---just as the land across the Potomac was given back to VA. That gives the residents of DC congressional representation.

Also, Puerto Rico would not work out the way that Democrats are assuming. The first two Senators may be Democrats because of the current political climate, but Puerto Rico/Puerto Ricans are not inherently progressive liberals.

My answer to Schumer's threat is "Ok, bring it".

This is so wrong. Were Alaska and Hawaii political moves for power like this?

What was it like when FDR tried to do this in the 30s?

Democrats keep pushing us into uncharted territory.

What’s the process for statehood?

The backlash was so bad from SCOTUS and the general public that he gave up the idea, even with massive New Deal Democratic super-majorities in both Houses of Congress.

Eta: Just to put context on how bad the backlash was from the public—FDR (a democrat fresh off a landslide re-election victory in 1936) had to back off the idea even with a FORTY seat Democratic majority in the Senate, and an over TWO HUNDRED seat Democratic majority in the House.

Republicans had around 100 members of Congress TOTAL in 1937, and FDR still crawfished on packing the court. It was that bad

Guess what?

If the GOP were to somehow capitulate, and the Dems and Biden somehow won, they would do every one of those things anyway.
