RALEIGH — After a coy press conference early in the week where Governor Roy Cooper alluded to ‘more restrictions’ his office planned to implement, on Friday the governor ordered a statewide lockdown.

Cooper said enforcement of the order would begin on Monday at 5 p.m.
and would have the ‘force of law.’ Cooper noted that the CDC considered North Carolina to have “widespread community transmission,” meaning a significant number of patients did not know how they had contracted Covid-19. The order is in effect until April 29 (although it can be terminated early, or extended)

This is why a quarantine will never work. You realistically can’t shut the entire system down. Some services are truly essential and as long as those essential workers are still allowed to move around the quarantine becomes ineffective.

Local lib government like cooper and the meck county leaders are so hungry to be relevant they will essentially cutoff their dick to save a finger nail. We have a 1000 cases state wide. N.C. is the biggest #meetoo state in the union. Charlotte wants and has always wanted to be Atlanta in every way possible.

Guess I'll have a long string of misdemeanors on my permanent record.

There are nowhere near enough infections in NC to order this statewide. Raleigh area? OK. Here in the mountains? Awwww, hell no.

Cooper's a grandstanding jackass.

I knew our idiot governor was going to fall in line with this BS. First reported case was four weeks ago. I think there have been 2 deaths, that's less than Idaho. Jesus.

This seems as if this dem Governor is doing this to stop Trump from opening the economy down the road. N.C. already has this in place other than the "force the law" thing.

I see no other reason other than the prog filth in Charlotte/Raleigh want to control and have a political purpose. I think they are already pissed the R convention is I believe in Charlotte.

I’ve got a few Police friends here that said the superiors don’t see how they can enforce this without potentially putting officers at harm. They said they’re also too busy running Domestic Violence calls now since everyone is cooped up inside and mad at each other.

This is why the federal government needs guidelines ASAP, and there need to be serious repercussions for ignoring those guidelines. Shutting down an entire state for a month over 90 hospitalizations and 4 deaths is absurd. At some point healthy people have to go back to work with precautions

So any business can be deemed essential if they can meet social distancing guidelines?
