Although a taxpayer bailout of Spirit would be stupid beyond belief, no one who flies should be tapdancing on Spirit's grave.
In every single market that they have withdrawn, consumers pay more for flights.
Their mere existence has helped keep travel cheaper for you even if you were never a customer.

those Spirit pilots should be in high demand. those captains will go to the bottom of the seniority lists. all the other Spirit employees will be out of luck.

ORD broke their lease illegally with AA and granted UA gate. Courts overturned it an AA grabbed two gates from Spirit.
UA is aggressively trying to kick out AA.

Which for flights is what we want. The current prices need to double so that those of who can afford to fly and have real business being on a flight can do so more comfortably and without the riff-raff. Also need to bring back the dress code.
