Believe whatever you want. His candidacy was abrupt. He spent all of 2022 denying he would run as he chased another term as Florida’s governor. Then Trump was indicted in late March 2023. By May, Ron was a candidate for president.

No, it wasn’t. You could see it coming from 2021.

See my previous post.

Lol. What statements about him considering running for President bother you?

Is Trump a liar for saying that he wouldn’t run again if he lost in 2020?

Trump is a liar 100%. But we are talking about DeSantis.

I’m asking you, since you are dug in on the idea that Ron’s run had nothing to do with Trumps legal vulnerabilities, was Ron lying to Floridians in 2022 when he insisted he wasn’t running? And if he wasn’t, what happened between December and May that changed his mind if not Trumps indictment?

Full disclosure… because I know some of the Ron people here have turned into angry Jehovahs Witnesses… I still love Ron. I’d be happy with Trump or Ron, and I want Ron in this race as long as possible. I just don’t see Ron getting the nomination unless they take Trumps scalp, and based on what I’ve seen, I have real concerns that Ron supporters won’t come back to the tent if Trump survives.

I agree 100%. I like Trump and Desantis both. I never understood the hate for either man? I still haven’t gotten an answer from Trump as to what will be different in this general election. All those changes(mass mail in ballots, drop boxes, etc.) made illegally without changing state laws are still in effect. The establishment will not allow Trump to win. They despise him.

This is consistent with your general inability to read the board. It's the Trump supporters that would abandon him should he choose Mike Pence in a skirt that you need to be concerned about showing up in Nov '24 for the good guys.

Will a small percentage of DeSantis supporters bail on Republicans in November? - yes, you get that from primary races and Trump and his superfans have retardedly turned on DeSantis and that bothers some RDS supporters, but the vast majority of DeSantis supporters want above all else to keep a Democrat out of the white house. However, based on posts on this board that isn't the case for a disappointing number of superfans.

Ron jumped the gun, but putting him on a par with Christie is a joke. Ron made a mistake but Christie is a classic political grifter.

I thought he would make a very good president. I also found appeal in potentially 8 consecutive years vs. 4 more years max.

That said, I think DeSantis definitely misread/took really bad advice regarding the sentiments of the majority of the Republican base.

I think DeSantis’ team has ran a poor campaign.

The GOP nom is Trump’s to lose. I will definitely vote for him in the general.

I still think DeSantis would have made a very effective president.

If it doesn’t work out in 24, and he runs again using a mix of strategies, borrowing from Trump and Vivek as well as getting back to his own roots, he’s a shoo-in. Ron is still the sober, experienced path to Trump style conservative populism going forward.
