When the answers given have been proven to be lies, I think at least the deceased's families, if not the American people as a whole, deserve further investigation until the truth is uncovered.

i have thought from the very beginning that the reason for the story about the spontaneous protest was to cover up the gross negligence, gross incompetence about the lack of security and the request for security by the ambassador

Do you think the GOP really cares that much about what happened? The average person certainly might (and conservatives certainly do), but they see the opportunity to make some hay out of this. Saying it's politics is stating the obvious really, as everything in Washington is.
I don't blame them for doing it. At worst, you find nothing but have the base more energized. If you do find something, you weaken the presumptive Dem frontrunner and make the current administration lose even more credibility. I'd make the same move if I was a strategist.
If this does yield evidence of gross incompetence or worse, I'll be right next to you burning the effigy.
