Hospitality Management.

If they told me it was useless, I would have chosen something else.

If true, that's a problem which would quickly self-correct.

They should go into law enforcement. The recruiting crisis in policing means that people who would have been security guards and mall cops are now patrolling the streets and investigating crimes. Policing needs smart people but the college educated feel it’s beneath them.

Problem is they think they should come out and earn 70k with zero experience. I always hear it’s not worth it from them when talking to a few. False hope taught in colleges these days.

bullshite

It is because this spoiled arse generation is not willing to sacrifice a few years to get the experience needed to move up. They want big titles with big pay, right off the bat dammit, or they aren't going to work. Frick that generation.

wouldn't expect anything less than you saying this. what a fricking joke. You are one of the spoiled, brainwashed, woke, lazy losers in life. Got your degree, want top pay, and those boomers are stupid and need to give us their jobs......doesn't matter if you haven't earned it nor have the experience for it.....you are entitled right?

Worst generation ever, and it will likely only get worse as the educational system has been infiltrated with nut job woke policies, instead of actual knowledge that will help you in your job.

Make no mistake, and the great Paul Harvey once said it in 1965....if this country is to fail, it will be an inside job. Well, we are seeing you pathetic scum losers trying to do just that with your Woke arse BS.

There is a program in Immokalee, FL (near Naples) that trains high schoolers to be truck mechanics. $80K guaranteed when they graduate from the program.

If you’re young and single, $80k salary would barely cover the HOA fees and flood insurance in South Florida. Forget trying to get a mortgage on a house down there because no bank will approve you with a salary that low, especially when properties in that part of Florida are starting out at 400k unless you’re looking at buying from a trailer park.

Wages in FL are absolute trash in comparison to what the COL is. Unless you come from generational wealth or are already independently wealthy, then it’s not worth living there.

how much does it cost? I follow a Canadian YouTuber that learned body work at a tech school in Saskatchewan at a relatively cheap cost and he said that his understanding was that the same training in the US was tens of thousands of dollars. I don't know if that's the case but if it is, that really sucks

Hell my son just graduated High School and secured "A Job", these kids are coming out of school expecting $75,000 - $100,000 a year.

Which it takes to have a family

But unless they are in a medical, engineering or accounting it ain't happening.

DEI & HR has had a very negative impact on companies. Best qualified are not hired, have to meet the DEI quotas.

You don't go to college anymore unless its high level STEM. With AI, a lot of the lower hanging fruit degrees are going to have a hard time securing a job and paying back debt.

Police recruiting is in the tank because the prevailing sentiment is A) you're not going to be supported if you're following orders and doctrine, something unfortunate happens, but it is a bad look for the elected officials side B) you're going to be doing things in service of the local elites that likely just amounts to haranguing poor and homeless people.

Additionally, I've heard the very opposite about police recruiting. They don't want college educated people or those with particularly high intellect in squad cars. They prefer them at the desk.

Is college seen basically as vocational school now?

For what it costs it sure as shite better be.

Of course, elitist leftist rich children don't have to worry about it.

fun fact - a convenient side effect of colleges going DEI was that they could let in connected leftist white kids with no worries about their actual intellectual capacity (AKA the Kennedy effect)

30% of our town are Indians imported using the goddamn h1-b program.

Go to any city with businesses. Freaking Bentonville is overloaded with them.

These are programming, IT, engineering jobs, other data related jobs and more. Even the call center jobs would be a pathway for marketing grads.

It has to end. Everyone focuses on Jose picking vegetables and at chicken processing plants but nobody fricking talks about this invasion.

Tell your kids to get an accounting degree. First they had to make the CPA exam easier because not enough people were passing. Now accounting firms and private businesses have started outsourcing the function to India because there are not enough qualified candidates.

Not the best field to get rich, but a comfortable life is almost guaranteed if you’re fairly competent.
