“Let the market do it’s thing” libertarian utopians reject reality for self-righteous naivety.
Again, I asked for alternatives to this concept. You haven't given any.

I’m no longer fully in favor of “private business, let them do what they want”. Leftists are taking that mantra and running with it and doing far worse than what we wanted to protect businesses for

They cannot go and steal $2500 from your account, they can freeze a transaction. Two very different things.

At their sold discretion they can remove $2500 from your paypal account for anything they deem inappropriate
That is not just freezing a transaction.
Go start another crappy babe thread, creep.

Paypal is not a monopoly.
Very true. Paypal is merely a convenience, could easily live without it.
Wake me up when actual banks start doing this.

With Zelle and crypto-backed tech, Paypal's days are numbered, anyway. It was novel because it lowered transaction costs, but now tech has made new delivery methods even less costly. Now it's a brand more than a real tech.
Credit card companies are facing the same issues, long-term.
This is why the market is so important. It creates the innovation that kill off legacy tech/institutions.

No but they also own Venmo and Paypal is also accepted at more stores than the other alternatives such as cashap or Zelle.
They are easily the largest out of all of them.

Damn you are getting bitchy lately. Calling people names is not very nice
It is a fricking paypal acount. Paypal is not a bank you hardheaded person. You are giving some 3rd party your money, that are not held to the same rules as banks.
If banks start doing this, then we can worry. If you are leaving thousands in paypal, you are just an idiot.
Edit - Threads with pretty women > your fear mongering threads you have been on a role with. Just saying.

Well that gave me reason to lighten my internet security risk. Not that I used PayPal very often or carried much in it anyway.

With Zelle
Zelle is owned by the 7 largest banks in the USA

If you are against monopolies than you wouldn't promote Zelle

quote:Where your fault lies is in the idea that you think the two entities (government and private industry) in these situations are separate.
I mean private companies making private regulations doesn't change any libertarian stance at all.
What is the actual difference between the a government/politicians using private industry to enact policies that they are unable to enact via governmental fiat?
ESG is a perfect example. These policies aren’t just appearing in a bubble.
quote:The reality is, there is no free market.
What is "reality" and what is your response?
These massive tech oligarchies prevent the very concept through the use of governmental policy and the intertwining aspects of the two.
quote:Paypal owns a market share of I think 50+% and it’s sub company, Venmo, owns something around 60%.
Paypal is not a monopoly.
You are correct, they aren’t definitive monopolies, but the separate pieces of the whole in the tech company world enacts policies favoring each other.
Perfect examples are the “conservative” alternatives to Twitter (couldn’t remember any names
The tech industry generates a wall to keep the free market from taking place, and that is managed by actual monopolies (Amazon, Google).
And, again, there is no fixing this. It will simply advance.

Pretty soon they will be the only banks
Due to the government it is almost impossible to start a bank anymore.

You don't have to leave it in there. They can freeze your account to hold the next bit of money you take in.
If they dont agree with your business they can freeze your money in the middle of doing business and have done so to many.

Perhaps you forgot when Chase froze and closed the accounts of what they deemed were right-wing activists

Anytime a conservative alternative to anything pops up Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, who control the majority of servers, refuse to rent them space on their servers.
They all fight tooth and nail to protect one another.
