“Being in the country illegally” versus “entering the country illegally”.

In order to expedite removal proceedings, they created immigration courts to make it faster than running someone through the criminal court system, and so created language to do so without having to trigger criminal proceedings.

Now, the left takes this as carte blanche to resist and obstruct federal immigration enforcement officers who are acting legally to arrest illegal aliens because “it’s not an actual crime”.

The criminal statute exists. They did commit the misdemeanor crime of illegal entry. This was done both for expediency and to keep illegal immigrants from being housed with criminals.

The two-faced, morally bankrupt Progressives are simply playing their Kabuki theater word games. Just ask SFP.
