These cities all have to completely collapse now in order for rebirth to begin. They can’t be helped because their culture is in the process of committing suicide. Total social collapse is imminent.

It really isn’t.

There is nothing enjoyable about walking around in the French Quarter. Nothing.

It even smells toxic

I dread having to go down there for depositions or court now. I used to love being able to go to Bon Ton or Mr. B'S for lunch after court. Now I can't wait to get the frick out of there.

I can proudly admit my last trip to NOLA was pre-Katrina...and I lived in EBR/LP/PCP as recently as 2014.

It's the most disgusting city in America, or at least tied with Detroit.

And it's never coming back.

I was there for work in June. I was legitimately embarrassed and apologizing to an Atty who was there from West Virginia.

It’s terrible bc I’ve got so many happy memories there. The neglect is truly heartbreaking to witness.

It’s been taken over by hipsters who moved in from somewhere else, and criminals.

This is why I'm not as mad as I should be. The post-Katrina carpetbag crowd swarmed in from all corners and sucked the culture dry. What you're left with is a dried zombie husk of what once was.

It’s a shite hole on a dead weekend. I don’t want to know what it looked like after red dress run. Congratulations on making it home. Lol

I was in NOLA on Friday, stayed at the Saint Vincent Hotel and went to a friends place for a party. Full on catered sushi being made on-site.

The city was fricking awesome. I walked to the hotel well after 2am by myself.

Ate at Elizabeth’s the next morning. Amazing.

That hotel is legit one of the coolest places you’ll ever stay, anywhere in the world.

New Orleans started its deterioration in earnest after Katrina

So you're basing an opinion on destruction caused by major hurricane one year ptior. Solid logic and analysis.

In less than 2 decades, New Orleans went from Hurricane Katrina to Political Katrina.

RIP, New Orleans. You had a nice run.

ETA: I have some friends who are Raiders fans and are taking a group trip down to New Orleans for the Saints - Raiders game on October 30th. One of them mentioned the possibility of me going down with them and showing them around a bit. They were a bit surprised when I declined. I told them, "Let's see...Raiders fans, a decaying city with unchecked crime and Bourbon Street on Halloween. Yeah, can't see anything going badly here. But you're originally from Oakland, so you should fit right in."

Condolences. Seriously. It is sad to see beauty fade into ugliness. I have watched my Great granddaughter grow from innocence towards the problematic effects of human instinct And the cultural/spiritual death spiral that many on this Board lament. It is a painful thing, and minus a Faith which requires that I view Humanity in a loving light, I’d get the hell and insulate myself and mine best I could. I do believe that “ALL things happen for the good of them who love God”. This painful scenario right down to its calamitous climax will be of immeasurable value in shaping our eternal character. Which is the key to the Gates of Heaven. Look forward Brother. And value those tears.

Place is becoming more vile and disgusting every day. Being run into the sewer by corrupt ignorant carpetbaggers and hipsters from out of state.
