More than 6,000 non-citizens were accidentally added to New Jersey’s voter rolls due to a software error at the state Motor Vehicles Commission, Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced Tuesday, with “fewer than 400” of them casting ballots in various elections since 2023. The stunning announcement comes amid a push by President Donald Trump’s administration to crack down on non-citizen voting, which the president claims — frequently without factual basis — aids Democrats in elections. Earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security alleged that New Jersey had more than 35,000 non-citizens on its voting rolls.

Sherrill said on Tuesday that the MVC error — which lasted from June 2023 until June 2024, predating her own tenure as governor by several years — arose during the application process for drivers’ licenses and ID cards. Around 6,600 individuals marked themselves as non-citizens when they applied but were added to voter rolls anyway, according to Sherrill. The accidental voters were “scattered across the state” and registered as Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters. Sherrill, speaking with reporters at a hastily scheduled press conference, said there’s no immediate proof that any of the roughly 400 non-citizens who cast ballots impacted the outcome of any individual election. “We have no evidence at this time that any elections were swayed,” said Sherrill, a Democrat who took office in January.

We’re approaching the “yea it happens but it’s only 400 votes” phase.

Someone or something defrauded someone or something else if noncitizens voted in a federal election.

Yes, followed by the “it was just a clerical error and not knowingly registering illegals to vote” phase.

Exactly what she is insinuating when she says there is no evidence of it affecting the election.
You have to be shitting me with this mentality.

There should be absolute zero tolerance for things like this. The Feds should treat this like they treated police departments and school boards from the 60’s through 2010 or so.
Don’t do your job legally? Here’s a consent decree and you’re now the fed’s bitch in perpetuity.

1) conveniently missed 2022 federal and 2020 federal elections
2)~400 legal residents + families (visa/green card) have now commited a crime and should now be deported.....

This was your response to my post acknowledging these facts? No level of government in this country should have any tolerance level whatsoever for improper votes. Anything more than 0 wrongfully counted ballots is too many.

This only identified computer error and not human error. Is it possible that non-citizens didn't check the non-citizen box when they should have and were registered to vote?

So…both fraud and blatant incompetence?

Look things happen, especially with computers, but that number should be 0. However,

I'm skeptical that this was a computer accident when a non-insignificant number of them actually voted. How did they even know they were registered?

Tip of the iceberg. If you read the article these are just the ones who marked themselves as non-citizens but who were registered anyway. Just think of all the ones who fraudulently claimed they were citizens. Probably ten times that number.

It does get complicated because some states and localities allow noncitizens to vote in local elections.
So also interested to know what election these votes were cast in.

Wherever you live its the same. Non-resident legal aliens who are paying taxes to school districts or municipalities at times are allowed to vote in those elections because they are taxpayers to those governments.
Now if the 400 and again if you read the article this is over a span of several years,
had voted in a federal election, that would be against the law
