I need you to acknowledge that you understand those two facts.
And you need to know Trump isn’t on the ballot.
The party in power only remained in power 8 times or less in any midterm ever.
The fact that the numbers are trending in Paxton’s favor IN THIS DISTRICT IN GREATER HOUSTON should show you the statistics that count.

You legitimately aren’t reading, and if you are, you aren’t comprehending, and if you are doing both and somehow still typing shite like this then you are in complete denial.
This is a terrible, terrible poll for Paxton. There is no spinning that.

per Google AI (so "don't shoot me, I"m only the messenger"....):
quote:
AI Overview
Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton admitted privately to donors that President Donald Trump's September 2026 midterm convention in Dallas caused poll numbers to drop, stating, "When we did that convention — it dropped our numbers. Everybody's numbers dropped. Right now, yeah, not good".
According to The New York Times, the recorded remarks were made at a private fundraiser in Washington, D.C., with conservative donors and lobbyists when Paxton was asked whether someone was "a little bit of a drag".

Because we were told by everyone that Trump won only because women, young voters, Hispanics and independents voted for him.
Then they said he lost all of them.
What is TX 09’s demographics?
Whatever the demographics of it are, Paxton is doing 19 points worse with those demographics than Trump did. So if it is in fact heavily women young voters and hispanics (and Trump didn't win any of those, he just did better than Republicans usually do), then Paxton is doing way worse with them.
Do you legitimately not understand what it means if a +20 district is now polling at +1? Again, maybe polls are fake, especially in-house Dem polls, but if they are not and this holds up Paxton is going to get destroyed.

Comparing Trump numbers and anyone else’s numbers, all Republicans included, more or less, is a fool’s errand.

Quick someone take his ban bet.

That's a poor result. Tx is a leftist shithole.

Except it’s not
Trump outperforms every republican everywhere
Running at +1 in a Trump +20 district is horrific. There’s no way to spin that.

Yes, of course, so what does that mean in this context? If Paxton is indeed ahead by 1 in a district Trump won by 20, this is good news for Paxton because. . . What?

All I know is these people talk about the Paxton Talarico matchup a lot for a race that they're sure is already decided

I don't do twitter, so couldn't click to read the data behind the numbers. I understand that the TX-09 was a single district, but did they sample the entire state or just that single district for the Senate numbers?

I keep seeing 20-30 swings like this with Hispanics.

Will be hilarious to read the spin that Bbonds puts on if Paxton loses. Considering his hilarious defense of Iran. “Name the battles”
Paxton loses:
“Yeah, well what is your definition of losing?”

If only the first number is for TX-09, then this is a good poll for Paxton. That's not how I read it, but if the Senate and Gov numbers are statewide then I could see the optimism. I don't think they are though, the memo says stuff like "if the data from TX-09 translate statewide."

Seriously there are at least a half a dozen new Talarico threads started every day and half of them by people that don't evne live in Texas if I had to guess

Meh. I was making a general point. I don’t doubt that it was made at the wrong time. Great. Wonderful. Grand. I wasn’t paying enough attention.
But this I’m good saying any time: all the same junk was said in the lead up to just about every recent federal election of statewide note in Texas. But perhaps the distinction in this instance is the level and “volume” of self-professed “conservatives” for all intents and purposes joining the Republican’s opponent there in dismissing (to put it very mildly) the Republican candidate.

That’s a lot of word salad to say that you refuse to listen to anything but rainbows and unicorns about your preferred candidate.
