Native Americans claiming it’s their land really doesn’t bother me. Yes they got screwed, but they got conquered. They were not a nation with borders, they were nomadic.

The worst thing for them to do is live on reservations and continue to pass down a legacy of being poor.

Which didn't happen to the 5 Civilized Tribes long term. They have lands, not reservations like you see on Longmire.

The Tribes that ended up on those type reservations were generally Tribes that fought, not the ones that relocated.

Again, they fricked around and found out. They decided not to move and they lost and ended up on shithole reservations.

The worst thing for them is to have a federal department with a better than $2B budget and nearly 5K employees whose remit is to make life good for Indians. The BIA has been doing its work for 200 years and its results are consistent with every f'n thing the federal government does.

There is nothing more depressing than driving through Indian country out west. Other than a few casinos it’s just hundreds of miles of dirt poor squalor. No innovation, no economic development, just poverty. The tribe of Indians that controls part of the Grand Canyon could be making money hand over fist but its a third rate operation at best.
