No, that’s not his point. He just said he likes their cuisine, not that every time he strays from American food he eats Somalian. I eat all kinds of ethnic food, as do most people reading this. If someone asked, “Name one thing the Chinese/Japanese/Colombians/Mexicans/Arabs contributed to America” their cuisine is an obvious answer.
