The fact that Saban, who hired him after he was fired at USC, fired him weeks before a national championship game - and likely cost himself and Alabama a national championship - tells you how toxic Lane is when he checks out and starts living for Lane. A lot of Alabama fans did and still do hope he is Alabama’s head coach. But I think he burned that bridge.

By my count he cost Alabama 2 national championships. They were running against Ohio State at will when Lane decided to go to the air.
Congrats to Arky…great hire!
You could probably eliminate 20% of all jobs without any replacement. There are a lot of make-work jobs out there.

What would you have them do
You do what any red-blooded American would do. It doesn’t have to be yours but you grab the nearest mattress, drag it into the street and light that fricker up. This is the way of our forefathers.

If Kiffin gets paid 16 million a year then Saban should raise hell with Alabama that he didn’t get paid like that.

If he’s getting 16 million Kirby Smart is worth 45 million.

Hm...the Ohio State fans I know are pretty happy about having the best CFB program for the foreseeable future.

Ohio State has a great program but that schedule has to be like watching paint dry to the fans.
That’s why I would hate to see an SEC/BIG10 merger. You would get Georgia vs Purdue, Alabama vs Northwestern, A&M vs Minnesota type games peppered with an occasional descent matchup.

Verbal “harshly worded” letter.

agree, I was just giving him some shite Although I don't know what he's talking about leaving Bama before reaching the pinnacle, he won a natty as OC there in 2015, and left before the one in 2016. So he "reached the pinnacle" once as an OC there, in addition to doing it twice with Carroll years earlier.

Pinnacle being the chance to take over at Alabama after Saban. Not saying it was a sure thing but he bowed out with his behavior.
There are no “rules” against it but Lanning was a coordinator. Customarily a head football coach does not entertain (at least publicly) offers until the season is finished. Of course Lane is bigger than college football so traditions and customs don’t apply to him.
Also a sign of self sabotage. He gets close to the pinnacle of success and self destructs. He did it at Alabama and now Ole Miss. It’s a pattern. Some people are just like that.
It’s become an annual tradition at Ole Miss. The only program in CFB in which the coach trolls the fanbase every November and December. LSU will inherit that tradition if they hire him. He can’t help himself.

've been told all the bridges between Lane and Bama have burned

Lane burns bridges everywhere he goes.
Well hell…why not go ahead and make a banner for it. It would be in line with the halftime celebration.

If we’re going to continue to fund SNAP, it should allow recipients to pick up beans, rice and multi vitamins at the depot. I’ll even throw in a free crock pot annually.
