Myth- “social security is guaranteed”.

Matt Walsh says what I’ve said here 15 years ago.
There are no guarantees. Younger people can decide that they don’t want to live by rules that now dead people made almost 100 years ago.
FTR- I supported the Bush 43 plan.

Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution.
That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds. Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?

It can be simultaneously a program you pay into and a Ponzi scheme

I want an opt out. Of course that isn’t feasible because the generation who ruined the country, all of its institutions, its economic and foreign policy infrastructure, and its general independence now need my money to fade away apparently.

We owe it to boomers to pay more tax so they can keep social security
They beat the Nazis in WWII and brought this country into the 21st century

Regardless, younger generations can vote in representatives to kill it and there is nothing that can stop it, if that’s what they choose.

you "pay into" every ponzi scheme
it is the timing of the exit that matters

I was simply countering Walsh’s claim that we don’t pay into it!

Virtually impossible.
Its a political career suicide pill at this point. Old people from both parties would be burning shite down

Matt wants young people to be able to forfeit SS but literally everyone under 30 I know has zero fiscal restraint whatsoever. They're all drinking $8 coffees, door dashing constantly, never eat at home, save nothing, charge everything and constantly whine about expensive everything is and that life's unfair. You really think these morons are gonna save money for 40 friggin years in order to have financial security when they're old?
Seems unlikely.

Yes, and as the country becomes more diverse, the likelihood of this happening rises. A more brown America isn’t likely going to want to continue to be taxed to support a primarily white elderly population.

I’m pretty sure the world was going to go into the 21st century, regardless of who and what generation was in charge.
But I do appreciate your sarcasm!

no shite! Your opinion is not original - all the Boomers who you are complaining about also wanted to opt out. We couldn't and instead we paid in to support our parents and grandparents generations who didn't pay in even 1/2 as much as we did. So get in line.

What you young ones have to do is to start weaning the country of it. If you have to pay some SS tax, then the government needs to give you more investment options like more money into an IRA. Boomers are dying off. What is the next generation up? X? Then they will bitch about taking it away. BREAK THE CYCLE. Find a politician who will do what YOU want.

You honestly have no idea about the financial situation of any of these people you say you see. Most probably have a retirement account in place.

Who cares, us Xers do not have the voting numbers to be meaningful in any way.
