What's wild is that this wouldn't have even been a conversation two strangers would have 20 years ago. Not only the idea of prosecuting illegals, but strangers discussing politics on a ski lift.
Society used to generally avoid politics, religion and money. Wish we could go back.

I find it more interesting that OP managed to bring up politics to a total stranger while on vacation. Sounds like someone to be avoided.

The entire illegal immigration debate is pretty interesting to me.
I spent about 8 months working under the table managing some sports bars in Okinawa.
One thing I learned about the experience, I actually did everything I could to NOT to get into trouble. Avoided drawing any attention from the police whether it was driving or just out in public. Laid off of alcohol or partying....just kept a low-profile working 60+ hours a week. If you get deported, you lose everything you own. Eventually just self-deported.
I just get a kick out of so many people thinking that illegals are just raising hell when I think a vast majority are staying as low under the radar as possible and just working their tails off.

The penalty for border evasion used to be deportation and a small fine, but I think that they strengthened the penalties. But either way, they essentially have to catch you evading the border to know that you evaded it. I could be wrong, but I don't think that people deported away from the border are charged with border evasion very often.
Also, most coming now are entering legally. They are walking or flying in and staying illegally past their visa date. Illegal border crossings are increasingly rare under Trump.

I’ve posted this on another site before. Maybe the Hispanic population was cheap labor 20,30,40 years ago. I can confirm that they now charge as much or more than any white/black roofing crew and they do a better job. I hand nailed shingles for 15 years, eventually my small business grew enough to where I could hang up my nail-bag. Started roofing in 1989 started sub contracting in 1993 started using Hispanic crews around 2009.
An American crew(if you can find one) shows up late, goes home early, complains non stop, fight, argue, cuss and holler all day, smell like booze and pot, Leave cigarette butts all over the yard. And Best of All. They all need a loan everyday.
The Hispanic crew, gets there at daylight, works until dark if necessary . And the only thing they ask for is the next address. They like to get paid on friday. I’ve been using the same 2 crews for around 15 years. One crew for shingles and the other crew for commercial flat roofs & metal. They are both state licensed, insured and have tax ID numbers and LLC’s.
If I had one complaint about them it is that they don’t respect the boundaries of property lines. I guess it’s something in their culture. Quite a few times in the last 18 years I’ve pulled up on a job and they’re in the neighbors yard underneath a big shade tree eating their lunch and I have to go out there and get them to clean up all their stuff and move and it confuses them. They don’t understand why they can’t enjoy the shade.

We have this huge box of free money available for Americans, but it is limited. If that was the requirement, how many people (liberals) would be OK with letting illegals in to get some of it? That is what is happening.

Most of those liberal DAs are political activists and have no interest in upholding the law nor respect it. They simply pursued that career in order to have the power to circumvent or ignore the laws they don’t like
