Exceptional public schools are in wealthy white communities that control their own school boards. The stars or federal government have nothing to do with it. Democratic controlled cities run mostly by black politicians are a complete failure at everything they do and that’s the actual truth. Black democrats are the biggest threat to the success of black peoples!

Exactly. And in Louisiana, the decent/ good public school systems are in parishes that have money, and are wealthy suburbs. Only one or two come to mind tbh.

And the school board and parish is where the moneys at. The state of Louisiana doesn’t provide enough funding to keep the lights on barely.

Like I tell my kids all the time:

Mine were taught/ learned I wasn’t doing shite for them to look good. They had to accomplish that or be idiots. Ironically they get me compliments to this day. They also learned the power of a personal birthday or Christmas card, handwritten and look people in the eyes when talking to them. Who knew I had it in me?

through high school and onto college is hopefully one less that will live a life in poverty.

College isn't necessary to have a good life...and I went to college. A lot (a whole lot) of my friends with no college make more than I do.

Get your kids in the best schools you can afford. Either private or move to an area where public schools are...hmmm shall I put it...not urban-like. Gives them a fighting chance.

Public school academic decline can be directly traced to federal involvement in schools via programs like Common Core, which opened the floodgates for initiatives that erode excellence and prize victimhood or struggle over achievement.

Additionally, the public education system has been co-opted by Marxists and is now used as a catalyst for destroying Western culture.

I hope your experience at the private school you mention continues to be positive.

Don’t let your guard down, though.

There are plenty of private schools who have been infiltrated, too.

Modern day slave lords of Africa. The top make the money/status while the rank and file are sold down the river for their profit.

Just shifted my 3rd and 1st grader from private school to public in association with moving.

They have remarked at how much easier these grades are than 2nd and Kindergarten , respectively. Looking at the syllabus it was insane how far behind public school is from where they were in private

The ironic part is, we can bust our hump and get in debt sending our kids to a private school, hoping to get into a good college. Then when they do, many come out leftist atheist hedonistic brats with loads of debt.

It is difficult to catch up but is well worth the time invested. Your kids will be better prepared for college as a result of the work they are doing now.

I have seen a number of kids that got straight As in high school, and then crash and burn the first semester of college. Their parents never looked at the rigor of their HS material, or maybe were just not capable of evaluating it.

Louisiana stats are skewed as such a significant percentage of kids go to private schools and their scores do not factor in those rankings.

In East Baton Rouge Parish, over 55% of high school kids are in private schools. BR has tons of good high schools but most are private (Catholic, St Josephs, Dunham, Parkview, Episcopal) or selective publics like U-High or BR Magnet. Zachary HS is also a great public high school in EBRP.

I put two kids through 12th grade in private school. Wasn’t cheap. Oldest is now entering law school. Youngest is going pre-med. I’m just a regular plant baw. Trying to break the cycle. I don’t think a public school education could get them where they are. The people you are surrounded by make a big difference in who you become.

I think you missed the point of his thread, which is that, for many freshmen, it is not at all hard. It’s only hard at good schools.

You like to see homos naked?

Seriously though, I agree. My wife resigned a public middle school math job to homeschool mine. She "tutors" in our Christian Classical co-op and I wouldn't do it any other way.

Mind giving a hint here as to where? I can probably pick up on it. We're evaluating private schools so interested in any impressions.

Holy Innocents is probably the most convenient for us but I'm sure wife will want to look at the Big 3 + Trinity. I wish we had a legit classical Christian school in Atlanta.

This is actually very important. Your kids start raising their expectations on what they want out of life. They start seeing that they are "just as good" as their classmate who may be a doctor's son or come from a "prominent" family. Plus, they start building a network of friends who have a smaller percentage of "bad influences" and a larger percentage of "high achievers". Well done!
