There is NEVER enough punishment that can be placed on a person of stolen valor. The same is true of womanizing draft dodgers who fled to Canada. (Like a certain Clinton.)

The ones I knew were a mixed bag. I was in graduate school at Bama (1970-1974) with a LOT of them. There we some who worked hard and were trying to graduate.
The majority fit what I suspect is your point. Doing everything they could to prolong graduate school. My goal was to finish before the GI bill ran out. They made it easy for someone who had an incentive to graduate look good. I suspect I may have benefited from their actions.
