Sharia law is against state and federal law. That’s literally taking the law in your own hands.

It's going to be up to the people of Arkansas to end that. I know if I hear about anything like that in Louisiana, I'm going to act.

I have my doubts that this is accurate.
For all of our Governor’s faults, this is something that she would very publicly nuke if it was true.

Have been doing same thing in Europe. Have their own little communities ignoring the nations laws; they have their own laws.

Key words: " doing same thing in Europe"

Exactly! Your description covers most of the "Daily Breaking News" folks see today on social media. Seems more and more folks are losing their ability to critically think.

What is New Africa, really?
The Arkansas Times spoke to Faruq Rasheed, resident imam at the Islamic Center for Human Excellence, and Tauheed Salaam, part of the development team behind New Africa, who described it as a community where the only real requirement of residents is to be upstanding members of society.
“New Africa is a development that lends itself to citizen rights, citizen participation [and] citizen responsibility, because in our religion, the call is for human beings to take responsibility for their life in the best way,” Salaam said.
Despite the claims made in many the aforementioned social media posts, New Africa is not a Muslim enclave in Little Rock governed by its own laws, and it wasn’t suddenly sprung on the John Barrow neighborhood. In fact, it’s been there for nearly two decades. Plans and approved permits for the project date back even further.
New Africa consists of five houses, constructed by the Islamic Center for Human Excellence in the John Barrow neighborhood, near the intersection of 40th and Potter streets. Two of them are occupied by Christians. Rasheed lives in another. The only thing signifying its existence in the area is a sign with the words “New Africa Community.”
When I spoke to Rasheed and Salaam for this story, the Islamic Center had recently broken ground on a mosque, which Salaam said they hope to finish in the next year or so. The current iteration of plans for New Africa includes additional houses, a small school and a playground, but Salaam and Rasheed said there’s no timeline set for those projects; rather it depends on when they have the resources and contractors in place.
Buyers sign a Bill of Assurance, much like what a homeowners association might make homebuyers sign, that lays out standard rules and guidelines for the property. The bill does state the New Africa development is “for the purpose of creating a wholly owned residential Al-Islamic community conforming to the social guidelines given in the Quran and modeled in the life of Prophet Muhammed Ibn Abdullah,” language that seems to have critics worried about “sharia law.”
But, Rasheed and Salaam explained that they want people to take examples from the Quran in the same way a Christian might hope people follow the Ten10 Commandments, or the golden rule. They aren’t forcing homebuyers to wear hijabs or convert to Islam.

Important Requested Update: This week in House Rules Committee, the “Property Rights Protection from Sharia Law Act” failed on a voice vote, meaning the full House was not able to vote on whether it should be filed and debated.
That’s disappointing because this resolution already required a 2/3 majority to pass, and while we knew a fiscal session would present challenges, I still believe every member should have the opportunity to go on record.
Arkansans deserve transparent property rights protections now, not later, from foreign legal systems. States like Texas and Florida have already taken action because they saw the need and Arkansas should not fall behind.
I want to thank Rep. Britt McKenzie for making the motion to allow the bill to go to the floor. He was the ONLY committee member who spoke in support of giving the full body a vote.
I’m also grateful to Rep. Richmond & Senator B. Johnson for leading this effort during the fiscal session. I won’t stop working on this and will bring it back in the 2027 General Session with strong Republican support, we will not be intimidated by corrupt lobbyists or opposing liberals.
To everyone who has stayed engaged on this, thank you! We will need your support again in 2027.
