The cameras weren’t allowed because of the number of underage witnesses. Good luck getting the verdict thrown out with that retarded argument that it violated his civil rights.

Here is a question for the board - why, if considering all that GoFrickMe money was earmarked for his defense - how is it that the state has to pony up for this shithead?
Seize the GFM money to pay for KA's incarceration. That would be awesome.

I'm not hoping for a retrial, but it seems as if he got off fairly light. I doubt anyone is telling him he may get a worse sentence if he gets another trial.

I didn’t read it but saw someone summarize it. Apparently there was an agreement to not introduce good character evidence and then Karmelo’s own lawyer mentioned him being on the chess team and so the prosecution was going to introduce bad character evidence if he testified. Supposedly that is why he chose not to testify.
If so, that is the flimsiest argument for a new trial I’ve ever heard.

Pretty sure the jury only deliberated for a day or so to get to guilty. That means they were sure of the evidence presented. What is Crumb going to introduce that would change the evidence? Or is this an attempt to stack the next jury with sympathetic blacks?

Has a Red Stick Tigress been able to make a visit to young Karmelos?

You don't get to claim this as a reason for a new trial.

he gets a new trial, they should ask for the death penalty.
He’s not eligible for the death penalty. He was 17 at the time of the crime.

“I was too scared of cross examination” is very bad grounds for a new trial

I doubt that judge is recusing.
He’s not running again so he doesn’t have election fear
hope he is packing

Yea, there is no constitutional right to have cameras in the courtroom or have the trial broadcast in any form.

Karmelo Anthony's new legal team is accusing the judge who presided over his murder trial of bias and arguing courtroom restrictions violated his constitutional right to a public trial in a pair of post-conviction motions seeking to overturn his conviction.
Well to appeal they have to have something they claim warrants it. They cannot go to an appeal just because they want to try again and see if they get a different verdict.
This goes into the "what do you expect them to say?" category...

Judge in Karmelo Anthony case was ‘protecting the courtroom from the mob,’ attorney says.
So Karmelo and Derek Chauvin have one thing in common except the former is guilty, the latter is not.

Ah, the "throw everything imaginable at the wall" stage of the criminal appeal process is upon us.
And preserving issues at the trial level for purposes of appeal. Defense attorneys seek to leave some sort of door(s) cracked for some glimmer of hope, or moreover some hint that they achieved something to keep the case “alive” for whomever might take on the matter at the appellate level.

What would be funny is if sweet 'Melo gets another trial, convicted again, but gets LWOP or the death penalty.
