How did 9/11 give them cancer?

Working 'round the clock around asbestos and other toxic carcinogens have been known to cause cancers such as Mesothelioma. The buildings in the old World Trade Center complex were full of them. And it wasn't just 9/11 first responders who got sick.

She died of stomach cancer back in 2015.

This is not an issue for the Federal government as the people in question were not employed by the Feds.

They worked in a federal disaster area. The feds told them it was safe to work there and that the air around the sight was harmless. The onus, therefore, falls on the federal government as it was their show as soon as Bush declared it a federal disaster area.

Im going to sound like a dick and I really don’t want to because I fee for these people and I want them to get treatment, but they were not federal government employees. Why is the fed gov Responsible for them?

Also, this attack happened in NYC and DC, two of the richest cities in the world. Why are these cities not taking care of their hero’s and setting up charities for them?

That was very moving and honest. I wish he'd knight for teh VA.

And as serious as this is, Stewart still manages to be funnier than Trevor Noah.

Yep. Libertarians are no less immoral than the progressive socialists whom they hate so much.

No a-hole. Some people just don’t see why the federal government should be paying local employees in the richest city in the country

The government is required to give these people the care they need for the service they provided.

What law requires them too? Where in the constitution does it say fed gov is responsible for fire departments, hospitals, and police?

How is that possible? How have they spent $5 billion?

I agree. NY should pay

It’s not that libertarians are immoral, it’s that we don’t want the government being a moral authority. If you’re so concerned about this, the moral thing to do would be to individually donate to this cause.

NY and NYC have paid and are paying. Nevermind the over 400 first responders among the 2500 dead and thousands of other injured in the immediate aftermath, and the nearly 20k people who got sick in the recovery and rescue effort that followed.

But I guess some of you idiots think that all of that isn't paying enough. The US was attacked. As Jon Stewart said the terrorists said "Death to America" not "Death to Tribeca."

Our government gives billions in aid and weapons every year to Saudi Arabia, the country most responsible for 9/11. They don't give a shite.
