Yep. Libertarians are no less immoral than the progressive socialists whom they hate so much.

So you'd rather these men and women be on the streets, increasing the homeless population of New York, and thus increasing the risk of epidemics from diseases that were thought to be eradicated long ago?

No. The best possible thing that could happen is for Jon Stewart to start a charity or crowdfunding campaign to give these people adequate care instead of socialized medicine and government care. I promise you would have more than enough money to pay for the care if it was done this way, that way they don’t have to keep coming back every 5 years asking the government for more money.

That needs to change as well. You're making my point for me.

What a fricking weird argument. What's wrong with those people receiving better benefits for their service as well?

Why is the FDNY more deserving than Chicago's, Detroit's, Milwaukee's, etc.

The culture of gofundme being America's #1 insurance provider needs to end. The government is required to give these people the care they need for the service they provided.

This is not socialized medicine.

These are on the job injuries. The government (EPA and others) said the air was safe to breathe.

It wasn’t.

No, the Federal government is not required to do so.

Exactly.

Now these men and women are deathly ill, so it falls on the government to take care of them.

Weird. Seems like you and bunch of people could do this.

Promise: I don’t think you know what this word means.

Because they are the ones getting sick from the aftermath of an extraordinary event.

1). Show me where I said that?

2). I'm pretty sure none had a cataclysmic event such as 9/11. But if you want to go down this road, then yeah! Why not help those people too!

They've already paid 5 billion and now they are requested for more.

How much more do they fricking need?

How is that possible? How have they spent $5 billion? I mean I guess they just pay whatever is asked for by our broken system.

Is this anywhere in the constitution? Do you trust the government to take care of them? Based on how they look and the fact that they have to keep coming back and asking for more tells me they’re not receiving proper care. The government is fundamentally unable to run any program efficiently. Why is this different?

So let me get this straight - the government said the air was safe to breathe, so now we want the government to be the ones to care for them? That makes no sense.

They haven't. He's blowing smoke out of his ass. Congress initially agreed to pay out $7 billion when this relief fund first started. It hasn't paid out anywhere close to that amount because it turns out there were never enough funds allocated for it.

Cancer treatment is also expensive. My dad got diagnosed with leukemia back in 2017. If it wasn't for the fact that he had insurance, his medical bills would be running well over $1 million right now. And that's with just two rounds of chemo, a round of radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. To include his medicines.

Some of these guys have gone through DOZENS of rounds of chemotherapy. Jon Stewart mentioned one gentleman who was there who was about to start his 69th round of chemotherapy. That money runs dry very quickly.
