Is the book banned or just not available in certain places?

A censored book is a banned book.

That is simply, and obviously, false. Every society regulates age-appropriate literature. Almost no one would dream of allowing third graders to read Lolita. But Lolita is not banned.

No book has ever been banned from all of society.

But certain institutions have banned books from their institution

A while back I was in a bookstore and they had a banned book section.

I was standing there wondering how banned books were being sold if they were banned.

I didn’t want to engage purple haired people on the subject though so I let them just continue to be ignorant.

Maybe. But the opinion of you people with purple hair is of no concern to me.

Banned books can’t be sold.

I'm also not willing to tell a government entity that they can't stock a book that is "obscene", especially since 10 people will have 10 opinons on what is obscene
What? So one big government entity shouldn't constrain another big government entity? Which government entity gets to decide that its morals prevail?

We can fix this by small government means...get rid of the PUBLICLY funded libraries. Use the internet for research. Pay a bit for digital book subscriptions.

Home and on my desktop, so I just got the ability to look it up. The fuss was over a year ago, but the book was "Gender Queer, A Memoir". It was in school/public libraries all over the country. It was likely the worst, but many other books contained similar content.

And no, I'm not posting any pictures because it's legit porn and I'll get banned. Go look it up. It's censored on most websites that carry it because, again, it's legit porn.

Why are you saying this when the person you quoted specifically stated "age appropriate"?

You think ANY limiting of material available in school libraries is "book banning" and inappropriate?

No books are being “banned.” Placing age restrictions on books does not equate to a “book ban.”

To your remaining point, we the taxpayers fund the school libraries.
And we have the right to have a say on whether sexually explicit material promoting the gay agenda is shown and made available to school children.

The problem is that when books are banned, you’re forcing that choice on other parents.
If parenting is strong, a kid isn’t going to be harmed by reading a controversial book, for goodness sake.

Yea, books with child porn should be banned from children’s section. They can’t buy playboy but they can check out a book with pics of little Timmy sucking off his friend’s daddy.

Yet an 18yo can’t even buy vape pods.

I checked my library and it’s available at several branches. All the copies are checked in currently.

I never saw this in any of the libraries of the schools I taught at, but I taught K-8.

If a kid can “turn _____” from reading a book, the kid reading books is the least of my worries.

What about The Canterbury Tales?

Ha, I don't think you have to worry about kids reading The Canterbury Tales. I've read thousands of books, this was literally one of less than maybe 5 books that I started and didn't finish
