I was listening to the Dan Bongino show on 96.5 KPEL in Lafayette yesterday. During the commercial break, they ran a commercial from Schilling Distributing Company (the local AB distributor). The commercial went on about how Bud Light has sponsored numerous events and festivals in the area over the years and how Schilling is a distributor for AB and “has no input on advertising and marketing decisions.” They were basically saying they had nothing to do with this massive frick-up, and that they shouldn’t be held responsible for it and that Bud Light and AB has been a great ally of the area. They ran this ad twice in the hour I was listening.

They’re sales are obviously abysmal if they felt the need to do this. I’ve never heard them advertise before.

2 exec suits “on leave” is a good start but don’t stop not buying.

Yep. Spoke with someone close to one of the Schilling kids and they’re taking it pretty seriously.

At this point, they need to burn the execs in question, either in effigy or for real, then conduct an apology tour.

Not like they don’t have a lot of product about to expire that they can dump at events for a PR win.

I was at a Schilling sponsored event last Wednesday night. About an hour into it, the only beer left was bud light and nobody was touching it.

Purely anecdotal, but seems to be happening all over.

I disagree. If you were a principled company, you would need to take issue with it. They are essentially peddlers of that crap as well as far as I'm concerned.

They have the option to NOT make those deliveries.

You can't say "well it's not my fault" and continue doing so. It will affect the logistics companies as well as the mom and pops.

While true, it's a federal law, not state law

This is a marketing nightmare for BL. Except for pride events no one wants to be seen drinking a gay beer.

It's really of one of the great ironies of this whole deal. AB distributorships are probably one of the biggest corporate 'good ole boy' type networks in the country. From their ownership, to their sales teams, to the on the ground drivers. It was sort of a last bastion in that regard.

And they are being destroyed now by their Parent's choice to hire some northeast marketing twit whose daring decision was a marketing ploy to basically spit in all their faces and shite on them all.

The whole deal is so fascinating on so many levels.

Well, we could really really use a mafia these days, so might want to pump the brakes on the going under part

It's state laws and they vary by state. LINK

Some states you can sell directly from the brewery to the retailer, Washington.

Some states you have to sell to the retailer via a third party distributor, majority of states.

For Louisiana:

quote:

DISTRIBUTION PROCESS
HOW CAN I GET SAMPLES OF PRODUCTS TO RETAILERS?
No more than 3 gallons of any brand, limited to brands not purchased by retailer in previous 12 month

DO I NEED TO BE AWARE OF FRANCHISE RULES?
Yes

ARE THERE PRIMARY AMERICAN SOURCE RULES ON DISTRIBUTOR’S PURCHASES?
No

DO I NEED TO MAKE SURE MY BEER COMES TO REST AT THE WHOLESALERS WAREHOUSE?
Yes – products must be delivered and unloaded at wholesaler’s licensed premises

Sadly, the distributors are getting crushed because Budweiser corporate is a ridiculously hubristic slave to Leftist Social Conformity and doesn’t care about their revenue partners who get their products to market any more than they care about the consumer.

I hope they have enough Bud Light stacking up in their distribution center they have to go rent an extra warehouse to shelve it all.

Make it hurt. Like a white hot poker up the arse.

Does an episode like this and push back from a distributor network like AB has, possibly shift that even a little?
