Anyone know what’s going on with him? He’s been in George Washington University Hospital since 6/14. His office says he plans on returning to work but there’s no public information of why he has been admitted since the 14th, no possible discharge date or what exactly is going on. The only proof of life is that capitol police are seen outside the building.

Besides appearing dead for about the last 5 years, yet still somehow remaining in a political position of power?

The Kentucky Governor is a Democrat. If he passes he will appoint a Democrat as a replacement. Loose control of Senate

He may but it would only be temporary. Andy Barr won the primary and should be elected in the general.

Edit: after researching, Kentucky is actually one of a few states the governor can’t make temporary assignments. The most he could do is call for a special election.

They're working on the AI version. I'm hearing it's almost ready.

But seriously, I don't think he'll even finish out this term. He's probably suffering, so it would be the best thing for him.

I think this is wrong. I think their law says the governor must appoint someone of the same political party.

In the past they could but Kentucky passed a bill in 2024 (House Bill 622) which removed that power from the governor. Beshear signed it even though he opposed it.

The only way to fill a vacant seat is the governor issuing a writ for special election.

The way I see it is that the seat would likely stay vacant until the general election since the state has already held their primary.

For christ's sake... he needs to step down and retire. It's obvious that age has gotten the better of him. His body is breaking down. We'll all reach that point eventually. Sometimes hits us in our 70s, sometimes the 80s or sometimes the 90s. Knew one old bastard whose body didn't start breaking down until he was in his 100s. Was 102 when everything went to hell. He was awesome..

It's insulting that these taxpayer funded individuals will stay in office until they die of natural causes , even though it's clear that they're unfit for office. Rbg was extremely insulting. You just knew no name assistants were the ones calling the shots for her, for years before she died.

Probably the same for Mitch right now. He isn't deciding shite on his own. The people around him are weekend at bernie'ing him.

Probably, I don’t trust either chamber. Iirc he’s been voting by proxy for awhile now. Ironically Massie was on about how most in congress give their voting cards to the leader or leaders of their party not too long ago on his Twitter. I can’t believe Mitch and others haven’t been removed but the media is always focused on trumps health and mental wellbeing.

It’s difficult to think of the benefits that have been gained by the GOP having control of the Senate.

“At least it’s not the Democrats” might be the singular benefit I can think of and even that is kind of a reach when I consider the likes of McConnell, Thune and others who have passively-aggressively done their level best to kneecap DJT.

Does anyone really care? He is acting, as Senator, as an enemy to the conservative voters that put him in office to represent them.

Just sayin......
quote:

If a U.S. Senator from Kentucky dies in office, the seat is filled through a special election, not by gubernatorial appointment. Under House Bill 622, passed in April 2024, the governor’s authority to appoint an interim replacement was removed entirely; the governor’s role is now limited to signing a proclamation to call the special election.

Special election timeline: Once the vacancy is declared, state officials aim to hold the election quickly—typically within about eight weeks. The winner of this election serves out the remainder of the deceased senator’s term.

It is becoming too common to hear or read about these servants of the people being absent from their job as a servant. Maybe the people can see that such absence is a felony and bring back the chain gangs.
