If people in Congress want to invest, they can use managed accounts while they’re in office so they’re not directing the investment choices.

That retard has gotten less done with control of congress than Paul Ryan did and that was a pretty low bar he set for the role of Speaker.

Definitely, Mike Johnson is the definition of a DC cuck.

Those poor politicians. Ya can't expect them to keep multimillion dollar homes on a $174k salary.

If they were forced to only have a $174k salary, they'd not stay in office for decades. They'd do a single term for prestige and then go off to do other shite.

Political Office should be seen as a vocation out of service to one's country; not as an opportunity for wealth acquisition. Unfortunately, the former is a pipe dream and the latter is more in line with reality.

This is why they should be held to a higher ethical standard than the average citizen.

I'm OK with them trading ETFs but not individual companies.

No one wants to hear it, but we should be paying our lawmakers much much more. Like a million/yr. But come with the caveat that they will go to jail if they trade stock or entertain lobbyists.

We end up paying one way or another. Just one way benefits lobbyists of big corporations.

I've had a 401k for 2 decades and I have made maybe 5 trades of my own. And those were 2% cash back rewards on my credit card, so probably $2,000 worth of trades in 20 years. It's a managed fund and someone else can do it for congress folk. The only reason they want to trade their own stocks is because they know more than we do.

I don't disagree with the overall statement that they shouldn't be completely unable to trade stocks, but there should be strict guidelines preventing them from directly or indirectly trading. They and their spouses should be required to utilize a third party or a managed trust for their trading.

Also, frick Mike “Twinkle-Toes” Johnson for saying that politicians can’t survive off $175,000.00 salaries but they expect citizens to live off $40k or $7.25 an hour. frick all the way off with that bullshite.

It was never meant to be a career. We need to be doing much more to discourage career politicians.

Maybe. But that means only post-retirees and wealthy people would be interested.

POS just like the rest of them. Most worthless group in the country yet running our lives and destroying the future for our children and grandchildren. Worse part is the middle finger from them right in our face…

Term limits. No benefits or lobbying post CONgress.
