I can’t imagine what highly qualified and skilled (for that position in particular), highly regarded Congressman would want any part of that thankless, miserable position. Not after the nonstop trashing (with zero red lines not to cross anymore) of his or predecessor Mike Johnson.

Johnson could have helped himself in that miserable position by not collaborating with the left in secret to get a bloated spending bill rushed through. The only thing that stopped it was that it became public knowledge.
