That’s way too rational to be allowed to stand.

Perhaps if Gundy self-immolated he could remain the OSU coach at least posthumously.

Nah. He'll necessarily grovel and apologize for LITERALLY doing nothing more than wearing a t-shirt of a cable channel.

Like Brees, who pathetically apologized, Gundy has a TON of leverage (unless the OSU brass are just looking to get him out).

1. This "racist act" is even less "egregious" than Brees's;

2. He's the winningest coach in OSU history and there's not even a close second. OSU football was largely dogshit (outside of Barry Sanders and a few nice seasons by Less) before Gundy.

3. #2 makes him unlikely to be fired (unless the boosters just hate him). Assuming the boosters are ok with him, firing Gundy over this would be a colossal mistake. Gundy is an alum. Which makes a job that really isn't that attractive, much more attractive to him. If they fire him over this, then (a) good luck finding a quality HC that wants to come to a program who has never been all that good prior to Gundy and (b) to work at a place who fires you for LITERALLY wearing a non-offensive t-shirt;

Cancel culture only stops when someone who did nothing wrong refuses to be canceled. If Hubbard wants to sit out the season, fine. He has the choice to do so. But OSU football existed before him and it will exist after him.

Look at this situation for what it is. You have a player DEMANDING not wear a shirt because the player, subjectively, makes some completely bullshite argument trying to conflate the wearing of that shirt to racism. Send him on his way if he doesn't like it. OSU will be better in the long run rather than caving to this ridiculousness. This has NOTHING to do with "equality" and everything to do with this:

It's pretty crazy for real how the mob mentality could cause this guy to lose his job over wearing a damn t-shirt. I'd think if he's such a damn racist pos, Gundy would've been canceled long ago. I mean who the frick was he going to bat for when they went after one of his players and the "come after me, I'm a man, I'm 40" video happened. These spoiled fricking athletes need a serious reality check.

ETA: Bobby Reid, the player he was protecting. A real racist POS that Mike Gundy. Wonder if Bobby would like to weigh in on Mike Gundy?

It isn’t just about one player anymore. Entire OL and defensive captain backing Chubbard

The university is going to have to make a choice.

Do we want a team?
Or do we want fans and donors?

Is Chuba aware he carries the surname of a Confederate colonel? Maybe he should boycott his old man too.

Call their bluff.

I PROMISE you there are more people in Oklahoma and associated with OSU that would agree with that stance vs. acquiescing to pure stupidity from the player(s). Just because twitter and the media thinks something is "right", doesn't most of the country does. It just the majority doesn't say anything because they know something like THIS could happen to them.

Holy shite! The guy wore a t-shirt fishing. I feel like Allen Iverson. Not practice. Not a press conference. Not a game. Fishing!

that's a pretty description of what is coming ahead

If Gundy stands up the ignorance they have both...if he doesn't, then frick it...

no fans...or donors, though Pickens can fill any gap

I'd leave if I were Gundy, he's been looking anyways...

Which goes to show ANOTHER reality that white people are going to have to come to terms with.

Unless your black friend is Tbirdspur type in your face NOT part of the hive, you can't trust ANY of your black friends.

That's just reality.

Here is my statement I wrote, unsolicited for Mike Gundy:

"I have an opportunity today to learn a lesson and teach a lesson. I recently wore a T-shirt with the logo of the news organization OAN, which stands for One American News. It was on a fishing trip and I was not publicizing it, but it got out anyway and that's OK.

I enjoy watching news and keeping up with current events. I believe that all citizens should be informed. Staying informed is not watching one channel or one point of view. Staying informed is listening to as many different voices as possible.

I watch multiple news channels and read many different publications. They all have their flaws and cater to different views on the political spectrum. They all make mistakes. They all rush to judgement. They all produce stories they later regret.

This is why we all need to listen to diverse viewpoints. That is the lesson that I hope I can share.

The lesson I have learned is that I hold a position of influence, and that I need to be very careful allowing any company, media outlet or political viewpoint to be associated with me. Because that, by default, becomes associated with this great university and these great players.

I regret that any student-athletes were put in a position to have to respond to this and I welcome any of them to discuss this with me at any time.

Thanks and Go Pokes.

(You all can play the media and I will respond to your follow ups)

It's insane. Ruin a guys life for wearing a f*cking Tee shirt?

"Tolerance" and "Diversity" are lies.

This is cultural totalitarism. Far more akin to pre-WWiI Germany than anything Trump has done.

We're in grave danger. And most don't even know it.

It's well known and documented that Mike Leach keeps a photo of Trump up in his office. I thought there would have been a little dust-up in Starkville by now.

There's been one already. The players look for an excuse, any excuse will do.

Depending on how this plays out, I might be an Oklahoma State fan (after Mizzou) since I am in Oklahoma now.
