General fund dollars are 800 million less in FY 19 than FY 18 in the executive budget.

It's those rascally Republicans blocking our tax cut!!!

JBE has shown great leadership from the mansion, he's saved LSU Football, he's trying to save TOPS, he brought free healthcare for everybody and wesave money , he blocked throwing the old folks out of his buddies' nursing homes, and he's done all that by himself.

No one has helped him. Geez

Including the same Governor that you voted for who keeps demanding a budget that's on par with fricking Georgia despite them having a few more million people than we do.

800 Million less??
How can that be?
I just heard the governor on my TV telling us that we have more jobs than ever before and he's bringing in more big deals than anyone in history.

Movies are coming back, techies are taking over NO, we got another Super Bowl and Medicaid Expansion is saving millions. I read all that in the paper, it must be true!!!

Also when state and local spending are coupled it is even more balanced. Louisiana government is more centrally managed where as georgia and most states are managed more heavily at the local level.

1/3 gives the state the exact same amount of tax revenue as last year

what?

We don't need the full cent sales tax this year to have same amount of state tax revenue as last year because we have more money coming in from other sources this year. Oil prices are up from last year. Plus Trump federal tax cut results in higher state income taxes since Louisiana's state income tax is based on your income after federal taxes are deducted. Less federal taxes taken out of your check = higher net income for LA's state income tax to be based on.

Jindal got all the blame for the budget deficit boom from the oil price crash, and he deserved most of it for not reducing spending before or after the crash!

JBE has a slow oil boom, but a deficit crash year after year! This is tax and spend JBE’s fault. Cut spending, and make any renewal of “temporary” taxes good for ONE year!

FIX the spending problem, stop taxing the people!

Math. The FY 18 executive budget included 9.4 billion in general fund spending. The fy 19 request was 8.6 billion.

because of the reduction in fed tax deductions?

that plus 1/3 doesn't come close, and Wayfair ain't enough to make up for the difference, even if we could collect it all immediately

Adam, you put La. government and managed in the same sentence!!!
Come on man.

A system with managed instead of kick backs, slush funds, special interests, or buddies; is not grammatically correct.

Touche, but having worked as a Legislative Auditor in Ga I can tell you political patronage is not a Louisiana exclusive issue.

On a serious note, I'm reading online that the SGF was projected to take in 8.718 Billion for FY 17/18. It's from a HOR document.

Where'd are you getting 9.4Billion?

so they are fighting over 10 cents on a $100 purchase?

I'll pay double that if the LA legislature all goes home and never comes back.

What's the difference in the executive budget and General Appropriations?

What I'm looking at shows the budget for 17/18 at roughly 28.3 Billion dollars.

The revenues are produced as follows:
Feds 13.088 B
General Fund 8.718B
State Ded Funds 2.872 B
Fees & Self Gen Funds 2.676B
Interagency transfers .960B

The Feds are putting up roughly 46% of the revenues.
