Our President is a puss. He's probably apologizing to Mexico for the Army's brandishing of weapons on the border.

Yeah somebody said that they were guard at first but putting them out there like that is not impressive.

Lighten up Francis. He is a private. You aren’t reducing him anymore than he is. And the sergeant is the one who is responsible.

A PFC could lose a stripe and still be an E2.

It said private, not PFC. But yes, if he is an E3 or E2 he could be reduced.

Tough crowd.

I think these two have a lot of things on their mind right now. Glad the Poliboard is thinking about them.

If they were asleep in Afghanistan or Iraq they likely would be dead. Maybe some others with them. If they were here they very well could have been. If I own a company in private life and my security is asleep on the job I will fire their asses on the spot.

Granted, let's wait on the results of an inquiry, and I do hope they were not at fault here. But if they were derelict, they need to be gone. And the people that came up with the ROE's need their asses kicked.

Lighten up? I didn't say shoot them. I didn't say lock them up. I merely suggested we let them go find something that will allow them to get the sleep that they seem to need, should the finding be that they were snoozing or jamming to some beat.

That's an invasion and a declaration of war. Shut down the border. Boycott Mexico. Build the wall. Shoot the trespassers

You said I was part of the problem because I pointed out (humorously) that he was a private. He is not getting reduced anymore than he is.

This is one miserable thread with some miserable posters in it.

If you think this was funny I am sorry to say you are part of the problem. There's nothing funny about what happened nor about what is happening on that border. It turned out that no one was hurt, but it was an embarrassment to the Army one, and they could have been kidnapped or killed very easily two.

WTF is the matter with you? What kind of a GD army are you people running? Excuse me, Senor Dirty Mexican Army Dude sorry for having offended you? I'll try not to be here the next time you are running drugs across my border.

Had that been cartel they very well could've been killed. I can't believe that they're putting untrained, unqualified troops on the border without firearms or backup. Like another guy said the border patrol gets in firefights on a regular basis down there.

The kind of Army that keeps things in perspective. There will be an investigation. Matters will be handled by appropriate authorities. We handle things like this each and every day. That is all there is to it.

This stuff happens to all armies at times... britain marines "invaded" Spain on accident in 2002. Not to mention the unfortunately common problems of friendly fire/misidentification.

shite happens

This is absolutely disgraceful. Those U.S. Army Soldiers were armed and allowed Mexican nationals to not only approach them, but also disarm them. Their commander needs to be relieved.

Optics are bad. But how bad would they be if there was an international incident and exchange of fire (or worse) btw Mexican and US forces given current political climate and all out war on Trump. Highly unlikely Mexicans just “wandered into” US territory. Perhaps, these two were simply wise enough not to fall for something.

You should be sacked if things like this happen each and every day. Our young men and women deserve leaders, not shoulder shrugging REMF's and feather merchants.

Sounds like that's who makes the ROE's. No they should not have gotten into a fire fight. That would have been stupid. They never should have been in a position to have to get into one in the first place.

Sweeping this under the rug with wrist slaps is also stupid and unprofessional and solves nothing. Pedro will be back. Count on it. Will the Army be ready or this time will they have Cerveza on Ice waiting for him?

Yes Sir. I mean I like my handguns, but a couple of 9MMs against a team of men with rifles isn't good odds.
